Majority in U.S. Continues to Distrust the Media, Perceive Bias

The majority of Americans still do not have confidence in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly. The 44% of Americans who have a great deal or fair amount of trust and the 55% who have little or no trust remain among the most negative views Gallup has measured.

Drug deaths now outnumber traffic fatalities in U.S., data show

http://www.latimes.com/health/la-me-drugs-epidemic-20110918,0,3886090.story

Drugs exceeded motor vehicle accidents as a cause of death in 2009, killing at least 37,485 people nationwide, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

While most major causes of preventable death are declining, drugs are an exception. The death toll has doubled in the last decade, now claiming a life every 14 minutes. By contrast, traffic accidents have been dropping for decades because of huge investments in auto safety.

Public health experts have used the comparison to draw attention to the nation's growing prescription drug
problem, which they characterize as an epidemic. This is the first time that drugs have accounted for more fatalities than traffic accidents since the government started tracking drug-induced deaths in 1979.

Fueling the surge are prescription pain and anxiety drugs that are potent, highly addictive and especially dangerous when combined with one another or with other drugs or alcohol.

Canada Must Arrest George W. Bush if he Enters Canada

An upcoming planned speaking engagement in Canada by former President George W. Bush is again generating a wave of protest. Bush is reportedly scheduled to speak on October 20th at a gathering in Surrey, British Columbia hosted by Surrey Mayor Diane Watts. Professor Boyle’s ICC Complaint played a decisive role in deterring Bush from going to Switzerland in February 2011 because he feared prosecution there.

77 Americans wounded in Afghan truck bombing

KABUL, Afghanistan —

A powerful Taliban truck bomb that wounded 77 American soldiers and killed five Afghans outside a combat outpost served as a reminder on Sunday that 10 years after the Sept. 11 attacks, nearly 100,000 U.S. troops are still fighting a war that shows no signs of slowing down.

Rockets fired at US embassy in Afghan capital

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Insurgents fired rockets and assault rifles in the direction of the U.S. Embassy, NATO headquarters and other official buildings Tuesday as gunfire and explosions rocked the heart of the Afghan capital. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

U.S.-backed Afghan police force accused of human rights abuses

A disturbing report into human rights abuses by the U.S. backed Afghan police force - including rape and murder - has raised serious questions about the exit plan of the West.

Human Rights Watch published a report on Monday which found that in three of seven provinces it visited and conducted interviews there was evidence of arbitrary detentions also, AFP reports.

The 102-page report found that armed groups supported by NATO and the Afghan government are terrorizing and robbing communities, Reuters reports.

U.S. To Build Massive New Prison In Afghanistan

As the Obama administration announced plans for hundreds of billions of dollars more in domestic budget cuts, it late last week solicited bids for the construction of a massive new prison in Bagram, Afghanistan.

What withdrawal? Obama wants $100 million prison in Afghanistan

While President Obama insists that the US will save $1 trillion over the next decade by pulling out of the Afghan War, he has devoted little time to discuss his plans to build a new prison in Afghanistan — at a cost of $100 million.

Afghan peace council head killed in Kabul

A Taliban suicide bomber on Tuesday killed former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani and head of a council tasked with trying to negotiate a political end to the war, in what analysts called a blow to peace efforts.

The killing underscored doubts over the ability of fledgling Afghan security forces to protect even the most prominent politicians as U.S.-led forces ready to pull out by 2014.

Obama's Cold War? Raytheon Missiles On Russia's Border By 2018

This time, president Barack Obama’s Defense Department will bring new missiles even closer than JFK’s Turkey base. The U.S. will set up it new Raytheon (RTN) SM-3 missile defense systems in Poland, roughly 50 miles from the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad in seven years. A Russian spokesperson at the Foreign Ministry said his government was not pleased to hear about the U.S. military decision for a permanent base missile defense base so close to home. Kaliningrad is a unique piece of Russian real estate. It is not connected to mainland Russia.

The real focus of the missile base is Iran, not Russia. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said last year that the missile defense program was aimed at deterring threats from Iran.

U.S. to Attack Al-Qaeda Terrorists Beyond ‘Hot Battlefields,’ Brennan Says

The U.S. has the right to strike terrorists in other sovereign countries beyond “hot battlefields” such as Afghanistan, said John Brennan, President Barack Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser.

“Because we are engaged in an armed conflict with al- Qaeda, the United States takes the legal position that, in accordance with international law, we have the authority to take action against al-Qaeda and its associated forces without doing a separate self-defense analysis each time,” Brennan said in prepared remarks delivered today to a conference at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Permanent Drones Set to Take Flight

The latest chapter of the drone chronicles comes to us by way of Aerospace and Defense News. A research paper issued by them indicates that investment in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) will continue to increase over the next decade. In order to see the full report one must pay in excess of $4,800 to see the specifics, but a general forecast is given in the marketing overview.

The report clearly acknowledges what other defense analysts and official sources have admitted: there is a
worldwide drone arms race occurring that has been spurred by U.S. investment and supremacy in the field. The U.S. is now using drones in at least 6 countries abroad, as well as along both U.S. borders and over the interior of the United States. This is causing a wave of drone tech development that is increasingly funded across the globe and, as the report indicates, there is a troubling new direction.

Key trends cited in the report include:

  • The global drone market is expected to increase during the forecast period.
  • Demand will be driven by external, as well as internal threats.

· Competition will increase due to territorial disputes and modernization initiatives.

· Significant spending will occur in North America and Europe, with Europe's share to increase as countries across the region enhance their capabilities.

· The market will continue to be dominated by the United States.

· The Asia-Pacific is expected to invest heavily due to regional tensions.

· The three most popular categories of drones will be those with surveillance capabilities: MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) HALE (High Altitude Long Endurance) and TUAV (Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle - designed for sea-level).

U.S. assembling secret drone bases in Africa, Arabian Peninsula, officials say

The Obama administration is assembling a constellation of secret drone bases for counterterrorism operations in the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula as part of a newly aggressive campaign to attack al-Qaeda affiliates in Somalia and Yemen, U.S. officials said.
One of the installations is being established in Ethiopia, a U.S. ally in the fight against al-Shabab, the Somali militant group that controls much of that country. Another base is in the Seychelles, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, where a small fleet of "hunter-killer" drones resumed operations this month after an experimental mission demonstrated that the unmanned aircraft could effectively patrol Somalia from there.

Secret Sats, Giant Rockets: U.S. Unveils Space War Arsenal

Wired

When the Space Shuttle flew its 135th and final mission in July and retired without a direct replacement, some critics accused Washington of abandoning America’s 50-year orbital legacy. The Telegraph even called it a “retreat.”

Then last week, the U.S. government revealed new and formerly secret space initiatives that underscore America’s continuing orbital dominance. NASA announced plans for the biggest-ever rocket, set to launch in six years. Meanwhile, the hush-hush National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), keeper of America’s most secretive surveillance satellites, used the occasion of its 50th birthday to declassify its ongoing orbital eavesdropping campaign over Afghanistan.

Far from retreating from space, Washington is doubling down on its orbital force structure. The risk is this: with more and more of its critical capabilities packed into Earth’s limited orbit, America is increasingly vulnerable to a space counter-attack by China or Russia.

Monthly Terror Drills Now Required By Law For Students Including Kindergarten And 1st Graders

Kindergarten and 1st grade students are now required by law to participate in monthly terrorism drills, including active shooter, bomb threat and evacuation drills.

I recently received my 1st grade students back to school paperwork. Going through the packet I found a letter serving notification that my son is now required by law to participate in monthly anti-terrorism drills.

In fact, after doing more research, I learned that all New Jersey schools which provide services to children from Kindergarten and up are now required by law to participate in monthly drills.

Schools must hold the drills at least twice a year, in addition to the twice a month fire drills the following:

  • Active shooter
  • Evacuation (non- fire)
  • Bomb threat
  • and Lockdown

On top of those drills, schools will be required to also hold other security drills, which include the following:

  • Shelter-in-place
  • Reverse evacuation
  • Evacuation to relocation site
  • Testing of school’s notification system and procedures
  • Testing of school’s communication system and procedures
  • Tabletop exercise
  • and Full scale exercise

With a Full Scale Exercise defined by Law as:

Full Scale Exercise: This is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional activity involving actual deployment of resources in a coordinated response as if a real incident had occurred. This exercise tests many components of one or more capabilities within emergency response and recovery, and is typically used to assess plans, procedures and coordinated response under crisis conditions.

The letter, which can be viewed here, reads as follows.

Operation Mountain Guardian – Major Staged Terror Exercise In Denever

On Friday, more than 100 agencies converged on the Denver area for a massive terrorism drill dubbed Operation Mountain Guardian.

Terrorism drills such as Operation Mountain Guardian do NOT take place to keep the public safe, rather they take place to practice the openly planned martial law takeover of America as well as to keep the public scared over the threat of terrorism.

The type of scenarios that are simulated in these large scale terrorism drills simply DO NOT happen in real life without the help of the government.

Massive terror exercise planned for metro area

Operation Mountain Guardian is a terrorism-based, full-scale emergency exercise scheduled to take place in numerous locations in the Denver metro area on Friday, September 23, 2011.

The exercise will involve first responders from 81 different agencies**, will be conducted at ten separate locations and will include loud noises, simulated weapons, smoke, emergency vehicles and other equipment that will be audible and visible throughout the day.

VERY Curious! Denver - HUGE Terror exercise started today! I have searched the schedules of the Elite - Seems ALL Elite are taking vacations starting today!

A Massive Terror Exercise has started today(23rd) in Denver Colorado.

I can confirm most of the Elite of the world will be out of their offices or have nothing scheduled starting this week/weekend.

This includes for some bizarre reason the House and Senate of the U.S., going on recess, even though they just now got back from a month long recess.

Here are all the links and information - that I have been able to dig up so far.
So it is not just rumor - but the sites confirm schedules.
I have not been able to pin point - the Russian/German/French government schedules, nor Clinton's schedule etc.

I have also looked at royalty sites and have not been able to find their schedules (Norway, Monaco, etc)

Here is what I have found:

Russia 'believes US, Israel behind Iran worm attack'

Russia believes Israel and the United States were responsible for unleashing the malicious Stuxnet computer worm on Iran's nuclear programme last year, a top official said on Friday.

Vladimir Putin on course to be Russia's next president as Dmitry Medvedev steps aside

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/8786314/Vladimir-Putin-on-course-to-be-Russias-next-president-as-Dmitry-Medvedev-steps-aside.html

He's baaaack!
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has proposed Vladimir Putin as presidential candidate for 2012, almost certainly guaranteeing Mr Putin's return to office four years after he was legally forced to step aside.

Vladimir Putin has dispelled months of speculation and confirmed he will return to the Russian presidency next year in a move that cements his already vice-like grip on the world’s largest country.

Israel-Gaza Violence Is Worst Since April After Attacks Near Eilat Resort

Israel air strikes bombarded the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip as rockets fell on southern Israeli towns in the worst escalation in more than three months after attacks outside the Eilat resort town left eight dead.

“We have a policy to make those who strike at us pay a very heavy price and we are carrying it out,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a text message to journalists. “We killed the leaders of the group who sent the terrorists. This is only the initial response.”

Israeli airstrikes on Gaza yesterday killed five Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials. On Aug. 18, the air force targeted the Popular Resistance Committees, an umbrella organization for Gaza militants, killing six, including two top commanders.

Israeli cabinet announces plan to forcibly displace tens of thousands of indigenous Bedouins

In a cabinet meeting on Sunday, the Israeli ministers approved a plan based on the ‘Prawer Report’, which involves the forced removal of 30,000 Arab Bedouin villagers in southern Israel from their homes.

U.N. experts say Israel's blockade of Gaza illegal

Israel's naval blockade of the Gaza Strip violates international law, a panel of human rights experts reporting to a U.N. body said on Tuesday, disputing a conclusion reached by a separate U.N. probe into Israel's raid on a Gaza-bound aid ship.

The so-called Palmer Report on the Israeli raid of May 2010 that killed nine Turkish activists said earlier this month that Israel had used unreasonable force in last year's raid, but its naval blockade of the Hamas-ruled strip was legal.

A panel of five independent U.N. rights experts reporting to the U.N. Human Rights Council rejected that conclusion, saying the blockade had subjected Gazans to collective punishment in "flagrant contravention of international human rights and humanitarian law."

Israel continues air strikes on Gaza

At least eleven Palestinians have been killed and 30 were injured in the past 24 hours by Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip, which began on Thursday night and four Israelis have been injured by rockets fired from the strip.

These casualties are a result of exchanged attacks following a series of deadly assaults by gunmen who targeted two buses, a car and an army vehicle in the area north of Israel's Red Sea resort of Eilat on Thursday.

Folks, the one thing Israel is most afraid of is a population that THINKS!

So, think!

Why would HAMAS or indeed any Palestinian carry out any kind of an attack against Israel right now, this close to the United Nations vote on Palestinian statehood? Such an act only helps Israel and harms Palestine, and of course justifies Israel's CAST LEAD II to wipe Palestine off of the map before the United Nations vote can even occur, providing Netanyahu with the war he desperately needs to distract from the riots taking place in Israel itself.

This is obviously an Israeli false-flag, if for no other reason than to "Demonstrate" Israel's "need" for more US Tax Dollars to all those US Congressmen just coincidentally there in Israel for indoctrination!

Please repost this simple logic everywhere you see the corporate media screaming about "Palestinian terrorists!"

Israel to retroactively legitimize illegal settlements that were “looted from their owners”

One of the West Bank’s largest illegal Israeli settlements, Ofra, is now going to be legitimized and upheld by the state of Israel regardless of the fact that much of it was built on privately owned Palestinian land.

Does this represent the state of Israel spitting in the face of the Palestinian people in preparation for their bid for UN statehood? Is this a warning of what is to come if the Palestinians will not back down and kowtow to their Israeli occupiers?

We can’t be sure, but we do know that this is yet another instance of Israel flouting international law without hesitation.

Palestinian Bedouins threatened with Ethnic Cleansing

The Israeli government has adopted a new plan to “resettle” the Bedouin residents of unrecognised villages in the Negev. This plan in fact is a blueprint for ethnic cleansing and the destruction of the Bedouin way of life.

Tensions boil after Egypt-Israel border clash

Furious over a murky Israeli military operation that left five Egyptian security personnel dead at the border, top Egyptian politicians on Friday demanded a full investigation and urged a swift government response, including summoning the Israeli ambassador and halting natural gas exports.

Skirmishes along the tense Egypt-Israel border flare up periodically, but this time the reaction from Cairo's political elite reflects a new reality: With authoritarian President Hosni Mubarak gone, Israel has few friends left in Egypt.

That could mean an escalation of the already pervasive lawlessness in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, which shares a frontier with Israel and is mostly controlled by Bedouin tribes.

Egypt Protesters Tear Down Israeli Embassy Wall

Just a short while after it was put up, hundreds of Egyptian protesters tore down on Friday parts of the security wall that had recently been put up near the entrance of the Israeli Embassy in Cairo.

The Associated Press reported that Egyptian security forces did not intervene as crowds climbed the embassy security wall, pummeled it with hammers and tore away large sections of the barrier....

Turkey's Erdogan heads to Egypt, unnerving an embattled Israel

Turkey is emerging as the center of growing regional opposition to Israel at a critical time. Turkey's leadership and increasing influence, wielded on pliable new governments that have sprung up in the wake of Arab uprisings, could deepen Israel's isolation and pose serious security threats to the Jewish state...

Turkey set to sign military pact with Egypt, after cutting trade ties with Israel

A military and economic alliance with Egypt is set to be signed by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The deal should be clinched when Erdogan visits Cairo next Monday - the first such visit paid by a Turkish prime minister in 15 years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel has spent the last 60 years making enemies of its neighbors and now that the enemies are uniting against her, Israel will be doubt demand more American money be spent and more American lives be sacrificed to save Israel from its own mistakes.

Turkish PM: Warships will escort future aid vessels to Gaza

Erdogan continues heated rhetoric, saying Turkey has taken steps to stop Israel from unilaterally exploiting natural resources from the eastern Mediterranean.

Turkish warships will escort any Turkish aid vessels to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said in remarks broadcast on Al Jazeera television on Thursday...

Turkey voices readiness for Israel war

In an interview with Charlie Rose, when Erdogan was asked if he saw the Israeli attack on a Gaza-bound flotilla that killed nine Turkish nationals as “a cause of war,” -- as the premier had earlier said -- Erdogan said “we will do that too if it becomes necessary,” Turkey's Vatan newspaper reported on Thursday.

“As you know, Israel attacked three ships, one of which carried over 400 people from 33 countries, in international waters from sea and air. Such an attack in international waters is against international law,” Erdogan noted.

The Turkish premier reiterated that Israel should apologize to Turkey for the attack and pay compensation to the families of the victims.

Turkey demands an end to Cyprus shelf drilling

Turkey has demanded that Cyprus should end oil drilling on its shelf. The Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz warned earlier today that if Greek Cypriots started drilling the shelf, the ships of the Turkish Oil and Gas Company will also start prospecting for oil in the area in a matter of one week.

Turkey will get a formal right to this kind of work by signing an agreement on the continental shelf with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which has been recognized by Ankara only.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This will not sit well with Israel, which has inked a number of development deals with the Greek Cypriot government, and could well spill over into a regional war unless cool heads collectively prevail here.

Israeli-Greek defense pact invoked versus Turkish naval and air movements

With Turkey threatening naval action against Israel, the Jewish state and Greece have invoked a mutual defense pact they signed without publicity only 12 days ago.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder if one of the conditions of the pact had to do with the Israeli assurance that American taxpayers would bail Greece out of its current financial problems.

And please be aware: the Turkish government to date, has done absolutely nothing but refine its position regarding the immoral and illegal on-going Israeli siege of Gaza, and establishing where the territorial waters of Israel actually exist, relative to their development of oil and natural gas projects with Cyprus. Turkey, which does not recognise Cyprus's Greek Cypriot government, has bitterly complained about recent Cypriot-Israeli energy deals. Lebanon has accused Israel of breaking international law by exploring for gas without an agreement on the maritime border between the two countries, which are formally at war.

I would like to hope that cooler heads in Ankara, Beirut, Athens, and Tel Aviv will prevail; a true shooting war here would be catastrophic.

It is not impossible that Israel wants to use this as the "excuse" to demand that the US "neutralize" Turkey as its latest existential threat which must be eliminated, replacing Edrogan's government with a much more Israel-compliant government.

Israeli FM Urges Arming Terrorists to Punish Turkey

Netanyahu’s really got his work cut out for him today, however, following reports that Lieberman has formed a team in charge of coming up with ways to get revenge on Turkey for demanding an apology over the killing of aid workers in the Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara.

Incredibly, the reports have Lieberman plotting to arm the the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a terrorist organization which has been launching attacks recently against the Turkish military.

Which once again has Netanyahu scrambling, with his office looking to distance itself from the plot, refusing to either confirm or deny its authenticity, and insisting that they continue to hope to restore relations with the Turkish government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel is now officially a state-sponsor of terror.

"Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It's classified information." -- US official quoted in Carl Cameron's Fox News report on the Israeli spy ring and its connections to 9-11.

Ankara explosion: First video of deadly Turkey blast, cars ablaze

The blast reportedly occurred on a minibus in the downtown Kizilay district. Several vehicles were damaged and glass in the windows of several nearby buildings shattered.

The likelihood of an all-out regional war in the Middle East is increasing, the head of the IDF Home Front Command said on Monday, Channel 10 reported.

Speaking to the Institute for National Security Studies, Major General Eyal Eisenberg said that such a conflict could potentially include the use of weapons of mass destruction.

ISRAEL AND THE UPCOMING NUCLEAR WAR [VIDEO]

By Gordon Duff / Veterans Today

THE “UNTHINKABLE” IS NOW INEVITABLE

A year ago, Israel and Turkey were best of friends. Their spy agencies in the US shared nuclear secrets, sold them to China, North Korea, Pakistan, Brazil, worked as partners blackmailing half of Washington’s army of corrupt officials and traitorous military officers. Patriotism in Washington is rare nowadays, considered stupid. Washington is all about “globalism” and “no borders,” about corporations, not “America.” To most in Washington, America is a joke, a bankrupt “has been” nation drowning in debt with a military now useless, spread across the globe running errands for a cabal of international bankers.

Israeli Embassy Evacuated in Jordan, ahead of Anti-Zionist "Million Man March"

Israel closed its embassy in Amman, Jordan, Thursday morning and brought the staff home a day early in anticipation of mass demonstrations organized on Facebook under the banner, "No Zionist embassy on Jordanian territory."

Iranian Bushehr Nuclear Plant Comes Online - World Survives

On 12 September Iran brought its first nuclear power plant in Bushehr online, connecting it to the country's electrical grid. Iranian officials at the opening ceremony said that the 1,000 megawatt plant has begun generating electricity at 40 percent of its capacity and will reach full capacity by the year’s end following further testing.

Quite aside from demonstrating Iran’s touching post-Fukushima faith in nuclear energy despite being a seismically active country, Bushehr represents a Rorschach test of sorts for all the fears and anxieties in the Middle East, in which everyone looking at the facility has his preconceptions reaffirmed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This will be interpreted correctly as a defeat of Israel and its minion the United States Government, which sought to preserve Israel's nuclear monopoly allowing it to sell clandestine nuclear weapons at high prices with impunity, which is the very activity the NNPT is intended to prevent.

Were Israel to bomb the power station now that it is operational, the resulting nuclear contamination would rival that of Chernobyl and Fukushima. Would that scale of disaster deter Israel? Probably not, as Israel risked that very thing when it bombed Iraq's power station at Osirak and a facility in Syria which Israel claimed was a reactor.

House G.O.P. Tightens Its Bond With Netanyahu

When the Obama administration wanted to be certain that Congress would not block $50 million in new aid to the Palestinian Authority last month, it turned to a singularly influential lobbyist: Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Palestinians Will Seek UN Membership on Sept. 23

GENERAL ASSEMBLY CAN OVER-RIDE A US VETO

Q. Is there a way for the General Assembly to overrule the Security Council?

A. Yes. Resolution 377, known as Uniting for Peace, was passed in 1950 during the Korean War to break the deadlock. It was a US initiative to circumvent the Soviet Union blocking action to protect South Korea. It is a rarely used mechanism whereby a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly can override the Security Council and its veto-wielding members in specific circumstances, where the 15-member decision-making body ''fails to exercise its primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security in any case where there appears to be a threat to the peace, breach of the peace, or act of aggression''.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In kowtowing to Israel, the US Government may have set itself up for a major political defeat. The US intends to veto Palestinian statehood on the theory that Palestine should be forced back into waiting for Israel's permission to be a state (as a side note, Israel did not wait for Palestine's permission to steal their lands for their new nation). But if the General Assembly invokes Resolution 377 and over-rides that US veto, Palestine becomes a state, and the US government stands once again exposed as Israel's naked slave.

Harper rejects Palestinian statehood bid

On Friday, the Prime Minister was drawn into the brewing showdown over the Palestinian bid for statehood recognition at the UN.

“We view this unilateral action on behalf of the Palestinian Authority to be not helpful,” Harper said during a stop in Saskatoon.

“No unilateral actions like this are helpful in terms of establishing a long-run peace in the Middle East. Canada views the action as very regrettable and we will be opposing it at the United Nations.”

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, who will be accompanying Harper to New York, has already expressed Canada’s opposition to the Palestinian plan. Canada supports a two-state solution to the conflict but only after a negotiated settlement between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"And I am proud to be a bigger whore for Israel than President Obama!"

Obama Scrambles to Avoid Embarrassment Over UN Palestine Vote

The Obama administration is making a last-ditch effort to head off a major diplomatic embarrassment over the looming Palestinian request for recognition of its statehood at the United Nations.

The U.S. is applying diplomatic pressure on Israeli and Palestinian leaders to persuade them to reopen negotiations before the United Nations can take action.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has said he will take the request for full recognition as a state to the U.N. Security Council in the coming week.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a stall tactic. The US will never allow Palestinian statehood because Israel will never allow Palestinian statehood and the proof is the fight (and threat of veto) at the UN. If Israel and the US had any intentions of allowing a Palestinian state they would allow the United Nations to move forward without opposition. The Palestinians are smart enough to understand that if they abandon their attempt to gain statehood at the United Nations that the situation will return to the current status quo, with Israel simply grabbing more and more land for illegal settlements while demanding as a precondition for any talks recognition of Israel without saying where the borders of that Israel are to be drawn.

That the US is setting itself up for total humiliation at the UN is proof that Israel controls the US Government. The master never cares if the slave is publicly humiliated, and Israel spits in the face of their slaves in DC on a regular basis; indeed seems to relish every chance to do so! The US Government, which purports to endorse democratic process, should bow to the will of the General Assembly whose majority clearly favors a Palestinian state. That the US Government refuses to do so and risks a humiliating political setback at the UN, only underscores that the US Federal Government works for Israel, rather than for the American people.

‘Palestinian statehood could have poor consequences’

At a meeting in the British Parliament on Monday, former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar urged the Palestinian National Authority to not pursue unilateral statehood at the United Nations later this month, saying that it would represent a “dangerous mirage.”

U.S. Republicans submit resolution supporting Israel's right to annex West Bank

U.S. Representative Joe Walsh (R-IL), introduced on Monday a resolution (with 30 co-sponsors) to support Israel’s right to annex the West Bank in the event that the Palestinian Authority continues to push for vote at the United Nations.

“We’ve got what I consider to be a potential slap in the face coming up with the vote in the UN, which is absolutely outrageous,” Walsh told Politico website last July.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is on the same moral level as France submitting a resolution saying it is okay for Canada to annex New York.

And note that Walsh is basing his decision not on right and wrong, Israel or Palestine, but his own ego! Palestine dares embarrass the United States at the UN by making them go through a (possibly pointless) veto, thereby proving to the whole world that Ariel Sharon was not just boasting when he said Jews control America, and this is just cause to steal their homes, according to Walsh!

U.S., Israel propose new talks to head off UN bid

Israel is willing to begin new peace talks using the 1967 lines as a basis for negotiations, if the Palestinians drop their UN membership bid, an Israeli government official confirmed on Tuesday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official confirmed that Israel has been working with Washington and members of the international peace-making Quartet to draw up a new framework that could relaunch stalled talks.

The package of principles is intended to draw Palestinians back to the negotiating table and head off their plan to seek United Nations membership for a Palestinian state on the lines that existed before the 1967 Six-Day War.

I would like to remind the government of Israel that it came into existence via a unilateral declaration that it was a nation; the Palestinians deserve no less of an opportunity.

Of course, what will happen on the ground should Palestine be recognized by the UN as a nation is a complete Israeli take- over of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, declaring any Palestinian state null and void. And the UN, as usual, will do absolutely nothing to prevent this.

Israel is in a panic over Palestine's probably success at the United Nations next month, but this offer isn't real; it is just another dirty Israeli political trick. If Palestine accepts the offer and calls off their United Nations effort, Israel will indeed talk ... and talk ...and talk ...and talk ...and talk ... just as they always have, while never agreeing to anything. If, on the other hand, Palestine refuses this offer because they know that all Israel will do is talk ... and talk ...and talk ...and talk ...and talk ... just as they always have, while never agreeing to anything, Israel will be able to go into the United Nations proclaiming that Palestine was being unreasonable in refusing negotiations!

Canada: The gift that keeps on giving to Israel

One of the projects funded by this Foundation has been the Guardium Autonomous Security Vehicle for the purposes of, as described by Kole Kilibarda, militarizing the border. This is one of many initiatives within the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement and the Canada-Israel Public Security Partnership. Under the former agreement, bilateral trade has more than tripled, making Canada increasingly complicit in the economic normalization of the Israeli occupation as well as a critical stake-holder in Israel's defense complex. Under the Declaration of Intent for Cooperation on Public Security Issues, Canada and Israel supposedly face "common threats to border security, illegal immigration, and terrorist financing." In a post 9/11 climate and the never-ending War on Terror, this legitimizes both states' practices of torture, extraordinary rendition, racial and religious profiling, incarcerations, deportations, and surveillance.

Italy’s Berlusconi opposes Palestinian state bid as Israel’s Netanyahu visits

Translation: Berlusconi got clobbered in the referendums, and needs Israel covert help to stay in power in Italy.

Gray September Black October

In September the UN General Assembly will vote on Palestinian statehood. This vote is not subject to Security Council veto. Israel could be ordered to withdraw to her pre-1967 borders. The Palestinians would get Gaza, the West Bank and east Jerusalem. And also by September the economy ought to be either collapsing or nearly so.

There is the strong possibility that the banks could intentionally time the dollar’s demise with Israel’s need for war to change the facts on the ground to erase a Palestinian state before it can be launched.

What have Obama and Netanyahu wrought?

It is the United Nations, not Netanyahu nor even the United States, that can and should bring the state of Palestine into being -- and would do so if the United States were not to prevent it. The bilateral talks with Netanyahu that Obama is insisting Palestinians return to will only continue to serve, as they have in the past, as cover for the expansion of Israeli settlements whose purpose it is to annex (i.e., steal) enough Palestinian territory to preclude the possibility of Palestinian statehood.

Does a Palestinian appeal to the United Nations imply an improper "unilateralism" that Israel and the United States accused Palestinians of? Nothing could be further from the truth.

Unfortunately, if the Palestinians declare themselves a sovereign nation in September, don't bet against the Israeli government declaring war to conquer East Jerusalem and the West Bank, and killing as many Palestinians as they think they can get away with.

Netanyahu AIPAC Speech: Israeli Prime Minister Says Country Cannot Return To 1967 Borders

Israel's prime minister promised to present his vision for an Israeli-Palestinian peace in a speech before U.S. lawmakers on Tuesday, but vowed his country would not return to mid-1967 borders that he termed "indefensible."

Benjamin Netanyahu made this pledge in an address Monday to thousands of pro-Israel American Jews and U.S. lawmakers. His speech drew roaring cheers and standing ovations, a sign of the powerful backing he enjoys in the U.S. as the White House pressures him to do more to renew stalled Mideast peacemaking.

Memo to to Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu: if Israel is incapable of withdrawing to its mid-1967 borders because this is "indefensible", what then, sir, are the borders of Israel?!?

The world (and in particular the Palestinian people) are keen to know.

This issue has consistently been a huge bone of contention here: Israel categorically refuses to define its borders as a starting point for peace. Of course, that is if one believes that Israel truly wants peace, which is a real question; and my bet would be absolutely not.

And why do I say that?!? Because in its 63 years of existence, Israel has always behaved as though what it wants is not peace, but territory, and by any means necessary. That is why we are seeing the brisk annexation of land in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, coupled with forcible expulsion of Palestinians from homes in which their families have lived for generations.

And world leadership sits idly by, and does absolutely nothing concrete to stop this, because they are terrified of being labeled as "anti-Semitic."

Israel warns Palestinians all deals are off if UN vote goes ahead

Israel will renounce past agreements made with the Palestinians if they press ahead with unilateral plans to seek recognition of a Palestinian state at the UN, foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman has said.

"A move like that will be a violation of all the agreements that were signed until today," Lieberman told the EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, in Jerusalem. "Israel will no longer be committed to the agreements signed with the Palestinians in the past 18 years."

Israel warns of ‘harsh’ consequences of Palestinian UN bid

Hardline Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned on Wednesday there would be “harsh and grave consequences” if the Palestinians persist with their plan to seek UN membership as a state.

Israel Threatens to Annex West Bank if UN recognizes Palestine

Uzi Landau, Israel's Minister of National Infrastructure, said recently Israel would annex the West Bank if Palestine achieved statehood. And Israel's foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman said this week Israel would renounce peace agreements with the Palestinians if they continue to seek state recognition at the UN. The majority of UN member states are expected to ratify Palestinian statehood this fall should a vote be held.

Many in US-Israel lobby wary of Obama peace push

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Thousands of pro-Israel delegates packed the AIPAC conference here Sunday, and while they back strong US-Israel ties they were largely unmoved by President Barack Obama's pledge to stand by the Jewish state through thick and thin.

Delegates at the annual policy conference for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee appeared subdued in the aftermath of Obama's recent address to the broader Middle East in which he raised hackles by calling for use of the 1967 lines as a basis for peace talks.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met the US president the next day at the White House and harshly criticized the address, sparking a public spat between the two leaders...

Obama says Palestine must be based in 1967 borders

President Barack Obama is endorsing the Palestinians' demand for their future state to be based on the borders that existed before the 1967 Middle East war, in a move that will likely infuriate Israel. Israel says the borders of a Palestinian state have to be determined through negotiations.

In a speech outlining U.S. policy in the Middle East and North Africa, Obama on Thursday sided with the Palestinians' opening position a day ahead of a visit to Washington by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu is vehemently opposed to referring to the 1967 borders.

Obama stands by vision for Mideast peace

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President Barack Obama stood his ground to defend his vision of an Israel-Palestinian peace deal following an unprecedented public lambasting from Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu.

Obama took his message to some 10,000 of Israel's staunchest supporters, warning Washington's pro-Israel lobby that the results of a continued stalemate in the Middle East peace process could be dire for the Jewish state.

And after twice dismissing Obama's views as "based on illusions," it was Prime Minister Netanyahu who appeared to be backing away from further confrontation, now saying he shared Obama's vision for peace...

Obama's 'Jewish state' reference jars Palestinians

In his speech last Thursday, Obama did not explicitly mention the refugees. But by saying a final peace deal must recognize "Israel as a Jewish state and the homeland for the Jewish people," he appeared to back the Israeli position.

Obama furious with Israel, but lobby too strong to oppose' - RT

Obama: The UN can't give the Palestinians a state

U.S. president says during London press conference that he is confident two-state solution is possible, if Palestinians and Israelis agree on a 'just peace.'

United States President Barack Obama said on Wednesday that the Palestinians should negotiate with the Israelis and not appeal to the United Nations for statehood.

"I strongly believe that for Palestinians to take the United Nations route rather than the path of sitting down and talking with the Israelis is a mistake," Obama said in a joint press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron in London.

Memo to President Obama: Israel does not want peace, and has demonstrated this for the 60-plus years of its existence.

Israel wants territory, and by any means necessary. This is why, if you have been looking, you will see the brisk Israeli annexation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, coupled with forced expulsions of Palestinians from the homes in which they have lived for generations.

What Israel wants is a one-state solution, strictly Jewish and Israeli, with every Palestinian dispossessed, landless, homeless, and without citizenship of any kind.

That, Mr. President, is how Israel characterizes 'a just peace'.

President Pussy ‘Clarifies’: 1967 Borders Didn’t Really Mean 1967 Borders

The only thing more furious than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the backpedalling done by Obama at the speech, where he was quick to insist simultaneously that the reference to 1967 wasn’t new and that he wasn’t really serious about it.

Rather Obama insisted that the “1967 lines” would need to be revised to account for what he referred to in the speech as “demographics changes” but what most people in the world refer to as the construction of settlements in the occupied territories. The expansion of settlements ever deeper into Palestine has been the chief reason the Palestinian Authority left the peace talks in September.

Obama’s speech was aimed primarily at placating the anger his unseemly call for peace caused among AIPAC and its affiliates, and wedged into a tight speech with pledges of more military aid to Israel and promises to move against Iran, he appears to have been successful in his task. Through the speech he was loudly cheered by attendees.

Jewish Donors Warn Obama on Israel

Jewish donors and fund-raisers are warning the Obama re-election campaign that the president is at risk of losing financial support because of concerns about his handling of Israel.

The complaints began early in President Barack Obama's term, centered on a perception that Mr. Obama has been too tough on Israel.

ISRAELIS march for Palestinian state

In Israel, thousands of people rallied in Tel Aviv to denounce Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s opposition to a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. It was one of the largest pro-peace rallies Israel has seen in years.

Adam Keller is the from the Israeli peace group, Gush Shalom. “Israel should recognise the state of Palestine. Israel should make peace with Palestinians. Israel should accept the ’67 borders as the basis of peace. We think the government is leading us to disaster, Netanyahu is leading us to disaster.”

US 'could withdraw funding from UN if Palestine state is recognised'

The US could withdraw funding from the United Nations if its members decide to recognise and independent Palestinian state, a close ally of President Barack Obama has warned.

The US Government's pandering to Israel (or control by them) does not get any more obvious than this. Frankly, if I were in charge of the United Nations I would kick out Israel for being in violation of its conditions for membership, and I would kick out the US for the sheer effrontery of trying to extort a political decision.

As a side note, any threat to deny needed support as a means to coerce a political choice is defined as an act of terror under the USAPATRIOT act.

No government can serve two masters, and a government that serves Israel cannot serve the American people.

A friend to Israel is no friend of America.

America needs leaders who will put America first, second, and third.

US public supports Palestine statehood

It becomes clearer every day that Binyamin Netanyahu's government is terrified by the prospect that the Palestinians are planning to unilaterally declare a state later this year. In fact, it is safe to say that no other proposed Palestinian action has ever shaken up any Israeli government the way that the idea of a unilateral declaration has.

According to Haaretz, Prime Minister Netanyahu is so frightened at the prospect of a Palestinian declaration that he is considering withdrawing Israeli forces (not settlers, of course) from the West Bank as an inducement to prevent the Palestinians from acting:

Palestinians' UN Recognition Bid To Proceed

Palestinian officials said Saturday that Israel's dismissive response to President Barack Obama's new Mideast peace proposal proves there's not enough common ground for meaningful negotiations.

Despite such skepticism, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas seemed in no hurry to announce his next move. He instructed his advisers to avoid public comment, presumably to keep attention focused on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who appears to be set on a collision course with Obama.

Israeli threatens no ‘food, fuel, water, anything’ if occupied Palestinians seek statehood

Mr Mansour, Stewart Ain of the New York Jewish Week, tells you what Israelis are prepared to do to you if you push forward with this initiative:

“There is an undercurrent of what Israel would do if they went ahead with this,” [Gerald Steinberg, neocon and political science professor at Bar-Ilan University] said, referring to reports that the Netanyahu government was considering voiding the Oslo peace accord or annexing settlements. “I don’t think it’s serious but rather is part of the political theater going on — threat, counter-threat. It’s more directed at the Europeans and the UN than anybody else. … And the Palestinians may pull back at the last minute. It’s all part of the theater.”

Should Israel cancel the Oslo Accords, it would no longer be obligated to give the Palestinians food, fuel, water or anything, according to Mordechai Kedar, a lecturer in the Department of Arabic Studies and a researcher at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies.

“Israel could provide them whatever it wanted on an individual basis but not as a state in the making,” he said. “And they then could forget about the refugee issue and Jerusalem. They would have to live with what they had. In my view, Israel should let them create six city-states in the West Bank and Israel should stay in every area to make sure they don’t fall into the hands of Hezbollah or Hamas.”

“The minute the Palestinians go to the UN by themselves without Israel, they are abrogating the Oslo Accords, which clearly state that an agreement must be made by the two sides and that neither can go to an outside international body without the agreement of the other,” he added.

Palestinians should stick with the ' forever peace negotiations' plan which we have been offering them for the last 30 years..or they will starve to death..and we have the means to do it.

'Spain will recognize Palestinian state on 1967 lines'

The Palestinian Authority announced on Thursday that Spain has decided to recognize a Palestinian state along the 1967 lines before September. A spanish diplomat told Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath that Spain would support making the state of Palestine a UN member.

Iceland “ready to support Palestinian independence”

Icelandic foreign minister Ossur Skarphedinsson has told his Palestinian colleagues at their meeting this week in Ramallah that the Icelandic government is enthusiastic to support Palestinian independence, should the proposed motion be put before the United Nations this autumn.

No longer a slave to the international bankers, Iceland again shows the world how to be a moral and just nation.

Syria recognizes state of Palestine

An official source at the Foreign Ministry on Monday issued the following statement: The Syrian Arab Republic recognizes the state of Palestine on the lines of July 4th 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital on the basis of preserving the legitimate Palestinian rights.

"You, American gentiles! You go kill them for us!"

Palestine is recognized by 127 nations as an independent state, so
why is getting recognition from the U.N. so difficult? Because the
United States, a veto wielding member of the U.N. Security Council,
is not one of those 127 nations.

Also Hanan Ashrawi elaborates on how U.N. recognition would allow
Israel to be held accountable for war crimes.

Palestinians: we are already recognised as a state by two-thirds of the globe

Gee! And I thought we believed in democracy!

Almost two-thirds of the UN's member states – representing more than 75% of the world's population – already formally recognise the Palestinian state in some form, according to analysis by the Guardian.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The first principle of democracy is that the will of the people is the law of the land. In preparing to veto Palestinian statehood in the Security Council, Obama not only betrays the founding principles of this nation but has taken the anti-Democratic (not to mention racist) position that Israel's wishes in this matter take priority over the express positions of the majority of the Earth's nations. So, to please his 'Massa' in Tel Aviv, Obama not only sells out America, but the rest of the world as well.

Palestinian state vs. US duplicity

“Next year, we will witness an independent Palestinian state” was the very utterance produced by the US President Barack Obama during his address to the United Nations General Assembly’s 65th annual session last year.
Mahmoud Abbas was the most faithful of the Middle Eastern politicians to the US president, who believed these words and reconciled his courses of action to them. Abbas was further encouraged, when the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told him and the Israeli authorities that the talks between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Tel Aviv would have reached a final solution by September 2011.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Obama said at the UN last year in 2010: " Next year, we will witness an independent Palestinians state".

In February Obama instructed Susan Rice, the UN delegate at the Security Council to veto a resolution calling for ending Israeli settlements.

This year , Obama promised to ' veto' a Palestinian state.

Poll: Vast majority of Israelis would accept U.N. recognizing Palestine

Nearly 70 percent of Israelis surveyed recently said that Israel should accept a Palestinian state if the United Nations chooses to recognize it, according to a report in Thursday's edition of The Jerusalem Post.

POLL: 69 PERCENT OF ISRAELIS SAY ISRAEL SHOULD ACCEPT U.N. RECOGNITION OF PALESTINIAN STATE

A joint poll by the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in the Occupied Palestinian Territories found that 69 percent of Israelis think that their country should accept United Nations recognition of an independent Palestinian state, according the Jerusalem Post.

Canadian Government under Israeli Control

Canadian Government under Israeli Control

It is so pro-Israel that it will do this despite a higher percentage of Canadians supporting the Palestinian’s bid for UN membership than voted Conservative in the last election.

Two and a half months ago Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird criticized the Palestinian statehood bid, labeling it a “public-relations” exercise. On Friday Harper reiterated this position. “Canada views the action as very regrettable and we will be opposing it,” the Prime Minister said.

General Assembly President: US Could Veto Palestinian Statehood

Kosovo OK mais pas pour la Palestine.

Efforts by the Palestinian Authority to establish a Palestinian state will be entirely impossible, according to UN General Assembly President Joseph Deiss, who insists that the general assembly cannot recognize a nation if any member of the UN Security Council vetoes it.

This makes such efforts a waste of time, as the United States holds a permanent veto power at the UNSC and would surely use it to block a Palestinian state. President Obama today condemned the notion of Palestinian statehood as entirely “unrealistic,” saying it could only become one if Israel agrees.

At the end of the day, Obama will dutifully listen to his Master's voice in Israel, and do whatever the Master tells him.

U.N. may delay debate on Palestinian statehood application

Diplomats on Tuesday raced to nail down a plan to deflect the Palestinian bid for statehood at the United Nations, crafting a face-saving formula that could lessen the immediate prospect of a Security Council veto, which the Obama administration desperately sought to avoid.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh yes, let us all figure out how to obey Israel's orders while we pretend we are not obeying Israel's orders.

The United States exists because men and women of courage defied a tyrant and created a new nation from occupied territories 235 years ago. Sadly, the present day government has shown itself unworthy of the nation they inherited. They have turned their back on the founding principles of this nation in their eagerness to please their foreign masters in Tel Aviv!

I have never been more ashamed to be American than I am this moment. I am utterly disgusted with Obama , who would rather be Israel's house-slave than America's leader.

Too cowardly to even stand by his betrayal at the UN, does Obama really think this subterfuge is going to fool anyone? Does he really think that avoiding the actual veto with this dodge is going to convince anyone the US Government is not Israel's slave and obeying Israel's every command?

We see you for what you are, Barack. Far from advancing the cause of civil rights with your White House win, you have instead brought slavery by blacks to powerful whites back into fashion in this nation.

I hope you are proud of yourself.

Because I sure as hell am not!

Thousands rally in Ramallah to back Palestinian statehood bid

Thousands of Palestinians flocked to Yasser Arafat Square in central Ramallah on Wednesday for a rally in support of the Palestinian bid for full United Nations membership.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Blocking Palestinian statehood will ignite a regional war, and that is probably exactly what Israel wants (so long as they can make it look like someone else's fault.) The really scary part is how eager US politicians (and the Christian Zionists) are to risk all out nuclear war to please Tel Aviv.

France Breaks with Obama on Palestinian Statehood Issue

UNITED NATIONS -- President Nicolas Sarkozy of France broke sharply on Wednesday with the effort by the Obama administration and some Europeans to quash the effort by the Palestinians for recognition here, instead calling for enhancing their status in the General Assembly to that of an observer state.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is NOT "breaking ranks": with Obama. This is just another way to deny full UN statehood for Palestine by dangling a carrot called "observer" as bait.

Full Court Press to Deny Palestinians Statehood

Palestinians deserved and were ready for statehood 63 years ago. Washington, Israel, other detractors, and naysayers say not now.

Libya's illegitimate Transitional National Council (TNC) puppet regime got theirs in less than 63 minutes.

Palestinians overwhelmingly want what imperial America and Israel intend to deny them. In fact, they're applying hardball pressure for it right now.

Obama addresses UN as Palestinian bid prompts rallies

(President Obama Tells The UN That Palestine Can Become A State Only With Israel's Permission)

Barack Obama has told the UN General Assembly the Palestinians deserve their own state, but that this would only be achieved through talks with Israel.

The US president's speech came as diplomatic efforts for Palestinian UN membership intensified, while thousands rallied in the West Bank.

He added there could be no "short cut" to peace, and is expected to urge the Palestinians to give up the initiative.

A Palestinian official said the UN would be given time to study the bid.

Mr Obama has held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and is to meet Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas later.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear President Pussy.

Did the United States require Great Britain's permission to become a nation?

Did Israel ever ask Palestine for permission to build a nation on their land?

Then stop being such a willing slave to Israel because you are embarrassing us all.

Palestinians submit UN statehood bid

Defying U.S. and Israeli opposition, Palestinians asked the United Nations on Friday to accept them as a member state, sidestepping nearly two decades of troubled negotiations in the hope this dramatic move on the world stage would reenergize their quest for an independent homeland.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Palestinian request for statehood is their version of the US' Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. I am angered to see Obama dismiss the Declaration as callously and easily as his predecessor dismissed the Constitution!

UPDATE: Abbas receives a standing ovation from the UN assembly!

Obama's theme song for his campaign next year has been changed to "You and me against the world!"

President of CFR being interviewed on CNN dismissing Abbas speech as saying it has nothing in it to convince Israel that it has a partner in peace. If Israel wants peace it only has to act peacefully. Remember, it was Israel that broke the cease fire on Nov 4th 2008 to launch Operation CAST LEAD. It was Israel that imposed an illegal starvation blockade on Gaza to starve them into surrendering their elected government. It was Israel that murdered aid workers in international waters. The burden is on Israel to prove that they are a willing partner for peace! And I thin Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt would probably agree with me on this.

UPDATE 2: Netanyahu is now speaking to the UN, to considerably less applause, blasting the UN for being a "theater of the absurd" (good way to win points, Bibi) and screaming the usual diatribes about militant islam and a nuclear-armed Iran.

Muslim nations demand Israel open its nuke program to IAEA viewing

Muslim countries at a 151-nation conference demanded Friday that Israel open its nuclear program to international purview, asserting that its undeclared arsenal is a threat to Mideast peace.

In comments echoed by other Arab states before and after the vote, Syrian nuclear chief Ibrahim Othman said Israel’s refusal to join the nonproliferation treaty and throw open its nuclear facilities to IAEA perusal “is a threat ... to the security and stability of the Middle Eastern states.”

“The international community must bring real and genuine pressure to bear on Israel,” Othman said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This document is highly unlikely to change Israel's nuclear weapons stance, but the timing, bringing it to the forefront of international discussion, just when Israel is being perceived as an existential threat to the peace of the region by refusing to support Palestinian statehood, is interesting.

And by the way, Ahmadinejad's alleged "...calls to destroy Israel" didn't really happen. Across the world, a dangerous rumor has spread that could have catastrophic implications. According to legend, Iran's president has threatened to destroy Israel, or, to quote the misquote, "Israel must be wiped off the map." Contrary to popular belief, this statement was never made.

Now let's be honest here; since Iran became an Islamic Republic in 1979, it hasn't attacked any one of its neighbors; Israel, on the other hand, has attacked a number of its neighbors many times since then. So who is the real aggressor here?!?

NOT IRAN.

Pakistan:

Pakistan warns US not to send more troops to its soil

Pakistan's foreign minister on Saturday warned the United States against sending ground troops to her country to fight an Afghan militant group that America alleges is used as a proxy by Pakistan's top intelligence agency for attacks in neighbouring Afghanistan. The warning came as a top US military commander was in Pakistan for talks with the army chief at a time of intense strain between the two countries.

U.S. sharpens warning to Pakistan

The Obama administration has sharply warned Pakistan that it must cut ties with a leading Taliban group based in the tribal region along the Afghan border and help eliminate its leaders, according to officials from both countries.

In what amounts to an ultimatum, administration officials have indicated that the United States will act unilaterally if Pakistan does not comply.

Although he declined to provide details, Panetta told reporters at the Pentagon on Tuesday that “we are going to take whatever steps are necessary to protect our forces” in Afghanistan from attacks by the Haqqani network, which has had a long relationship with Pakistan’s intelligence service.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Whether or not the US can prove a tangible link between Pakistan's ISI, and the Haqqani "network" as alleged, this is the US government's "excuse" to start bombing the hell out of North Waziristan, as it has wanted to do for some time now.

The use of drones in this effort will most probably result in massive civilian casualties here.

Mullen Demands Pakistan Move Against North Waziristan

Speaking today in an interview with the BBC, Admiral Michael Mullen today demanded that the Pakistani government launch a military offensive against the Haqqani Network in the North Waziristan Agency, the latest in years of demands from the US for such an offensive.

Mullen, who was in Kabul during the interview, warning that US-Pakistani relations could be seriously harmed if the Zardari government did not address the “safe havens” in North Waziristan.

Memo to Admiral Mullen: the relationship between the US and Pakistan has already eroded nearly to the point of no return: the timing, and nature, of this demand may destroy this relationship completely.

So,one has to wonder: is this implied threat of "if you don't do this now, then the US forces will do it for you", isn't an actual prelude to all-out war against Pakistan?

Or perhaps, are we looking at a staged "bloodless coup" in which a more US-centric general would be installed as President, and the US would be in charge of securing Pakistan's nuclear weapons to "save it from itself"?!?

And to those in leadership in the civilian and military leadership in Pakistan, were I you, I would not bet against either possibility, no matter how much money you have collectively been paid by the US to date to turn a blind eye to the slaughter of Pakistani civilians by US drone attacks.

Campaign seeks arrest of ex-CIA legal chief who authorized drone attacks

A group of human rights lawyers working in cooperation with relatives of the victims of US drone attacks in Pakistan is calling for an international arrest warrant to be served on former CIA legal counsel John A. Rizzo on charges of murder.

The first step in their effort will be the filing of an information report next week at a police station in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on behalf of relatives of two people killed in drone strikes in 2009. According to the Guardian, the report will "allege Rizzo should be charged with conspiracy to murder a large number of Pakistani citizens."

'Drone strikes infuriate, alienate & inspire hatred'

A UK-based human rights group, together with Pakistani activists, are seeking an arrest warrant for a former CIA legal director, allegedly responsible for drone strikes which killed hundreds of civilians. Now-retired, John Rizzo admitted in an interview, that he'd been approving such attacks in Pakistan since 2004, despite the fact the U.S. isn't at war with the country. The purpose of the strikes is to target Al-Qaeda militants, but the total civilian toll is estimated at up to 2,500 people so far. Pakistani lawyers have already filed a complaint against Rizzo, accusing him of conspiring to kill innocents. American anti-war activist Fred Branfman, believes the US is only harming its own interests in the region.

'Civilians make up over 90% of casualties in US drone strikes in Pakistan'

With more drone strikes carried out in Pakistan during the first year of President Barack Obama's term in office than were carried out in the whole second term of his predecessor George W. Bush, the number of attacks in 2010 more than double those in 2009 and continued growth in their use in 2011, extra-judicial killing seems to have become the modus operandi of the Obama administration. That he feels at such ease with this policy that he is able to joke about it, is testament to just how ill-advised was the decision to award him the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy". Next Up: Pakistan

I see someone besides myself has noticed all the “leaking” going on in the upper echelons of Washington over our rocky relationship with Pakistan. Suddenly Islamabad is on the verge of being classified as part of the Axis of Evil, with the head of the joint chiefs, Admiral Mullen, openly accusing the Pakistanis of “sanctioning” the killing of a journalist, and allying with a faction of the Taliban. Since when does a military man – the titular uniformed head of the US armed force, no less – speak out on such sensitive political matters? Why, when he has the full backing of the White House – which obviously has plans for the Pakistanis.

Even though the author of this article appears to have imbibed the koolaid on the alleged Ben Laden "hit", he is absolutely correct that the pressure appears to be mounting against Pakistan, including yesterday's announcement that the US is pulling a lot of aid away from that country.

But Pakistan has been quick to cement its relationships with China, both in terms of trade, and militarily.

I would like to hope that those in the bowels of power in DC are not seriously thinking about a war with China; they are a nuclear-armed country which has not offshored its manufacturing, and could be a formidable opponent in a war against Pakistan.

And please remember; after Zardari's last visit to Beijing, the Chinese government warned that any attack against the sovereign territory of Pakistan would be construed as an attack against China.

Pakistan tells US to leave 'drone' attack base

ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Pakistan told the United States to leave a remote desert air base reportedly used as a hub for covert CIA drone attacks, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar was quoted by state media as saying on Wednesday.

His remarks are the latest indication of Pakistan attempting to limit US activities since a clandestine American military raid killed Osama bin Laden on May 2. Islamabad also detained a CIA contractor wanted for murder in January.

"We have told them (US officials) to leave the air base," national news agency APP quoted Mukhtar as telling a group of journalists in his office...

US Rejects Pakistani Demand to Leave Air Base

Fresh off of the public demand by Pakistani Defense Minister Chaudhry Mukhar that the United States must immediately vacate the Shamsi Air Base, a small airfield in Pakistani Balochistan which the US has been using for drone attacks, the Obama Administration has officially rejected the demand.

The consequences of this unprecedented stance remain to be seen, but US officials insist that Shamsi is not being vacated, nor will it be vacated, and that the US will rather continue to use the base. If they assume that the Pakistani government will simply let the matter drop or not, they seem intent on occupying the base outside of the Zardari government’s consent.

This could get very ugly very quickly, and present some massive unintended consequences to the US military.

Most of the troops and supplies for Afghanistan have to come through Pakistan.

Should Pakistan retaliate to this rather ham-fisted move by the US by closing off all the roads into Afghanistan to US traffic, it will be terribly difficult to find alternate, viable ways to get troops, weapons, and supplies into Afghanistan.

Pakistan tells CIA chief it sticks to U.S. troop cuts

Pakistan's army and intelligence chiefs told CIA Director Leon Panetta they were not willing to reverse a decision to cut the number of U.S. troops allowed in Pakistan, Pakistani military officials said on Saturday.

"He (Panetta) expressed concerns over the reduction of trainers and operatives. We told him very clearly 'no boots on our soil is acceptable'," said a Pakistani military official.

I would like to strongly remind CIA Director, and soon to be Secretary of Defense Panetta, that Chinese government officials have recently publicly stated that any attack against the sovereign territory of Pakistan will be construed as an attack against China.

Pakistan spy chief asks U.S. to end drone strikes: report

Pakistan's intelligence chief has reportedly asked the United States to stop its drone strikes in the country, a newspaper reported on Sunday, touching on an issue that has become more sensitive since the killing of Osama bin Laden strained ties.

The local Express Tribune said Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director Ahmad Shuja Pasha made the request in a meeting on Saturday with CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell.

"We will be forced to respond if you do not come up with a strategy that stops the drone strikes," Pasha is reported to have told Morell, the newspaper said on its website.

Under fire from afar: Harrowing exhibition reveals damage done by drones in Pakistan

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/under-fire-from-afar-harrowing-exhibition-reveals-damage-done-by-drones-in-pakistan-2327832.html

Behram's work appears to reveal the truth about the US drone campaign in Pakistan's tribal region – that far more civilians are being killed than the Americans or Pakistanis will admit. His images cannot be independently verified but are backed up by credible documentation. It also raises questions about the ethics of this new video-game warfare. How likely is it that a "reachback operator" sitting at a video screen up to 7,500 miles away at the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, will hit the right target in the middle of the night?

Warning: very horrifically graphic images accompany this story.

But I implore you to look at them, and ask yourself; is this the highest and best use of my tax dollars, when homeless Veterans are sleeping in our streets, and US infrastructure is crumbling?

What the US White House, Pentagon, Congress, and State Department pathologically refuse to understand is the following very simple truth; when peaceful revolution is impossible, violent revolution is inevitable.

The US government has had a "love/hate" relationship with Pakistani political and military leadership for years, but never uses foreign aid as a "stick", but only as a "carrot" to get whatever government is in power to do its bidding.

Right now, that includes collectively closing their eyes to the wholesale slaughter of innocent Pakistanis via drone attacks.

And please don't forget: these extra-judicial killings are done with your tax dollars, and in your names.

Pakistan: U.S. Diplomats Need Government Permission To Travel

Pakistan has placed new travel restrictions on American diplomats living in the country, a U.S. official said Saturday, in the latest sign of the breakdown in ties between Islamabad and Washington since the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

IF the alleged Bin Laden "hit" in May, done absolutely without any consultation with Pakistani military or civilian leadership, was supposed to have cowed those in power, and pushed them harder to do the US and NATO's bidding, it has had the absolute opposite effect.

Unless, of course, the real US/NATO goal is a war against Pakistan to completely destabilize the region.

However, I would like to remind those in the bowels of power in DC and Brussels that recently, Chinese government officials have stated that any military combat against Pakistan will be construed as an attack against China.

Considering how catastrophically badly the military misadventures in Afghanistan, Libya, and Iraq are going, I doubt seriously that the US/NATO forces can handle a war against China.

Pentagon mulls options in case Pakistan closes military supply routes

Pentagon officials are examining alternate ways to move weapons and supplies into Afghanistan should Pakistani officials shut down logistical routes through their nation.

The allure of Afghanistan

The business track in Afghanistan now runs parallel to the political track.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari visited Tehran twice within only three weeks. He had two face-to-face meetings with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The House of Saud, to put it mildly, freaked out.

But the most fascinating part is that Tehran and Islamabad are now discussing not only security matters but also business, such as an upcoming free-trade agreement and a currency swap scheme that would move both countries away from the US dollar.

One of the most bitter, brutal ironies of the very publicly funded war, ultimately for the private profits indicated in this article, is that these incredible aspects of potential Afghan wealth will not go to to US or NATO companies, must most likely, to Chinese, Iranian, Indian, and Pakistani companies.

And the county which most likely will be a large beneficiary of the US/NATO occupation of Afghanistan?!?

Iran.

US to deploy troops if Pak nukes come under threat

US troops will be deployed in Pakistan if the nation's nuclear installations come under threat from terrorists out to avenge the killing of Osama bin Laden, the Sunday Express can reveal on Sunday.

The plan, which would be activated without President Asif Ali Zardari's consent, provoked an angry reaction from Pakistan officials last night. Barack Obama would order troops to parachute in to protect key nuclear missile sites. These include the air force's central Sargodha HQ, home base for nuclear-capable F-16 combat aircraft and at least 80 ballistic missiles.

Although this is not sourced, I have no doubt that such a scenario has been run by both the Pentagon and the White House.

In fact, such a plan was reported in 2007 at:

http://www.defencetalk.com/us-has-secret-plans-to-safeguard-pakistans-nukes-13487/

But were I a Pakistani governmental official or member of the military or security forces, I would be very concerned right now about a potential US-led "false flag" making it look as though there were some kind of "terror attack" in Pakistan in retaliation for the alleged "hit" on Bin Laden on 2 May; very concerned, indeed.

Pakistan Tells U.S. It Must Sharply Cut C.I.A. Activities

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan has demanded that the United States steeply reduce the number of Central Intelligence Agency operatives and Special Operations forces working in Pakistan, and that it halt C.I.A. drone strikes aimed at militants in northwest Pakistan. The request was a sign of the near collapse of cooperation between the two testy allies.

In all, about 335 American personnel — C.I.A. officers and contractors and Special Operations forces — were being asked to leave the country, said a Pakistani official closely involved in the decision.

US Ignores Pakistan Warning, Continues Drone Strikes

The continued strikes had previously been done in the context of some backdoor agreements with officials to keep them going, but in the absence of those it seems the Obama Administration is betting Pakistan just doesn’t care enough about the constant bombardment of their tribal areas to actually do anything about it. With a growing anti-US backlash across Pakistan and the military looking to assert itself, that could be an extremely dangerous bet.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to President Zardari and the Pakistani military and civilian government; just in case you haven't "gotten the memo", Pakistan may well be on the US's and NATO's "makeover/ to-do list."

Please do not discount that the US/NATO attitude toward Pakistan may well be morphing into a "we'll have to destroy the country in order to save it" frame of mind.

Pakistan Fumes as US Attacks Continue

An early Friday US drone strike against North Waziristan killed a number of civilians, sparking more anti-US protests across Pakistan. With the Pakistani Army demanding an end to the strikes, their continuation is fueling growing tensions between the two nations.

Pakistani officials have confirmed that the US contingent has left Shamsi Air Base in Balochistan Province, which is the key base for CIA drones. It is unclear if they were ordered out or left for some other reason.

Pakistan stops US using air base to fly drones

Pakistan has stopped U.S. forces from using an air base near the Afghan border where unmanned Predator drones were stationed, amid Pakistani concern about civilian casualties and U.S. complaints about the country's links to the militants.

At Least 120 Killed This Week as Karachi Violence Continues

Violence in Karachi continued apace today, with at least 35 more people killed and a large number of others wounded, bringing the overall death toll for the past four days to at least 120.

Though the violence started as largely political in nature, and attackers still seem to be focusing on the neighborhoods of their rival factions, Interior Minister Rehman Malik insists that the vast majority of the slain appear to have no political affiliations whatsoever.

U.S. Drones Kill 45 In Pakistan; 2nd Highest Death Toll Ever

Unmanned U.S. drones in Pakistan have killed at least 45 suspected insurgents in several separate attacks in the last 24 hours—the second-highest daily death toll since the drone warfare campaign began in 2004, Reuters reports.

The drone strikes came just a day after the U.S. suspended $800 million of military aid to Pakistan, citing "difficulties" in the relationship.

Update: Suspected US drone strikes kill 48 in Pakistan

Islamabad - At least 48 alleged militants were killed and about one dozen injured in four suspected US drone attacks in north-western Pakistan's tribal belt along the Afghan border, local intelligence officials said Tuesday.

The first attack took place late Monday in North Waziristan, one of the seven tribal districts where Taliban and al-Qaeda have hideouts.

An intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity said that a US drone fired two missiles into a vehicle in the Datta Khel area, killing five people.

'Later the drone fired eight missiles into a compound in the same area,' the official said. 'The attack demolished the building and locals have pulled out 20 dead bodies and 10 injured people from the debris of the house.'

Pakistan: US drone attacks kill 61 in 24 hours

Twenty-four more people, including local and foreign militants, were killed and nine others injured in three separate drone attacks in South Waziristan and North Waziristan on Tuesday. Some news agencies and private television channels reported that the death toll in the drone strikes during the last 24 hours had reached 61.

ISLAMABAD/MIRAMSHAH: A US drone attack with an unusually high death toll of 40 on Thursday drew a rare condemnation both from civilian and military leadership.

In the attack which came a day after CIA operative Raymond Davis had been set free by a court in Lahore, US drones fired missiles when a jirga was in progress in Nevi Adda Shega area of North Waziristan, killing 40 people, including tribal elders.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the incident and called the attack an “irrational act”.

“Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the drone attack and said it will only strengthen hands of radical and extremist elements,” an official statement said.

US drone strike kills 23 in Pakistan

The US has conducted another unauthorized drone airstrike in Pakistan's troubled northwest, leaving at least 23 people dead and several others wounded.

Officials say the US drones have fired five missiles into North Waziristan close to the Afghan border.

Meanwhile, Pakistani medics reported that the missiles fired by US drones have contaminated the environment with unknown chemicals.

Pakistan demands US apology for drone strike

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday demanded an apology and explanation from the United States over a drone strike in a tribal region, which officials said killed (around 40 people,( Dawn Newspaper)), the foreign ministry said.

“The government of Pakistan strongly condemns the drone strike which has resulted in a large number of casualties,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua said in a statement.
Thursday’s attack was the most lethal drone strike to hit the lawless region of North Waziristan since August 2008 when the covert campaign escalated in the areas bordering Afghanistan, and the seventh such attack in nine days.

80 people reportedly killed in U.S. drone strike in Pakistan

http://uruknet.com/?p=m75968&hd=&size=1&l=e

At least 80 people were killed in U.S. drone strikes launched Thursday morning in different parts of Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan, reported local state-run Urdu TV channel PTV, but the report failed to give details other than saying 12 missiles were fired at different targets in the afore-said area.

The elder said that the strike killed 41 people including six tribal elders and some children.

Turning friends into enemies in Pakistan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRby1IDACB8

In the US, corporate criminals run free. Meanwhile the US rains down destruction on civilians in Pakistan.

Interesting facts:

Less than 10% of those killed in drone attacks have any relationship to the Taliban or terrorism. The rest are civilians, women and children.

There were ZERO suicide bombings in Pakistan before 9/11. Now there are more suicide bombings in Pakistan there than there are in Iraq.

Bushbama is continuing - and accelerating - the work of the Bush gang.

Pakistani gov’t in dire straits as key party quits

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the second largest party in the ruling coalition, said Sunday it would join the opposition, leaving Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani's government short of majority support in parliament.

The political crisis could distract the government from its alliance with the U.S. against Islamist militants in neighboring Afghanistan, though security is largely the purview of the powerful military. But the turmoil also all but guarantees lawmakers will make no progress anytime soon on solving the critical economic problems that have forced the country to rely on $11 billion in loans from the International Monetary Fund.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This situation leaves Pakistan ripe for a military coup, a process which has happened several times before in Pakistan's history.

US presence in Pakistan exposed

The Islamabad government has admitted for the first time that there are US Marines operating in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, a report says.

U.S. efforts fail to convince Pakistan's top general to target Taliban

Kayani, who as Pakistan's army chief has more direct say over the country's security strategy than its president or prime minister, has resisted personal appeals from President Obama, U.S. military commanders and senior diplomats. Recent U.S. intelligence estimates have concluded that he is unlikely to change his mind anytime soon. Despite the entreaties, officials say, Kayani doesn't trust U.S. motivations and is hedging his bets in case the American strategy for Afghanistan fails.

While the Obama administration sees the insurgents as an enemy force to be defeated as quickly and directly as possible, Pakistan has long regarded them as useful proxies in protecting its western flank from inroads by India, its historical adversary.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Kayani is also acutely aware that there will be a presidential election in this country in another two-plus years, and the outcome may well be that American voters, sick of this war without either end or true justification in terms real security, may well put someone in the White House how vows to end this war immediately.

US Drone Strikes Kill at Least 7 in Pakistan

Deadly inferno: Four dead after militants set 12 Nato and U.S. fuel tankers ablaze near Pakistan-Afghanistan border

Militants in Pakistan attacked tankers bringing fuel to Nato and U.S. forces in Afghanistan today, killing four people and causing a massive night-time blaze.

A group of around 15 militants armed with rockets and guns stormed a roadside terminal on the outskirts of the north-western city of Peshawar.

At least 12 tankers were set ablaze in the attack, said police officer Liaquat Ali Khan. The dead men were drivers or their assistants, he said.

20 NATO oil tankers on fire in Pakistan

A group of unidentified gunmen in southwestern Pakistan have set ablaze 20 NATO tankers carrying oil to US-led soldiers stationed in war-hit Afghanistan.
According to some witnesses, unidentified armed men on Friday night opened live ammunition on tankers at a time when the drivers were inside a roadside restaurant near Dera Murad Jamali in Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan, a Press TV correspondent reported on Saturday.
There were no reports of casualties in the incident, but witnesses said the flames of fire spread to a nearby restaurant and a shop.

The assailants were seen fleeing the area in their cars, but no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Witnesses have pointed to the late arrival of the police forces at the time of the attack.

Al-Qaida aims to 'bring down' Pakistan: Biden

Al-Qaida is trying to topple the government in nuclear powered Pakistan, the US warned on Sunday.

Vice President Joe Biden said the Obama administration is trying "to make sure that terrorists do not in fact, bring down the Pakistani government, which is a nuclear power."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to the Pakistani government and military: the US may well be trying to attempt to justify a potential full-scale invasion of Pakistan to "save it from itself", as it appears that its attempts to get wars going elsewhere are fizzling.

U.S. Military Seeks To Expand Raids In Pakistan

Senior American military commanders in Afghanistan are pushing for an expanded campaign of Special Operations ground raids across the border into Pakistan’s tribal areas, a risky strategy reflecting the growing frustration with Pakistan’s efforts to root out militants there.

The proposal, described by American officials in Washington and Afghanistan, would escalate military activities inside Pakistan, where the movement of American forces has been largely prohibited because of fears of provoking a backlash.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What the current governmental and military personnel in Pakistan need to understand is that this will ultimately happen, with or without their permission, as things continue to devolve in Afghanistan.

Pakistan: Alliance Over if US Troops Expand War Across Border

Pakistani military leaders are warning the United States to keep their troops on the Afghan side of the border, with officials cautioning that the long-standing anti-terror alliance between the two countries would be ended formally if the United States invades.

US military officials are said to be pushing not only for permission to launch raids into Pakistan’s tribal areas, but are hoping to increase the rate so much as to make such raids a “routine” part of the Afghan War.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to the Pakistani military and civilian leadership: the "friendship" of the US government can turn south faster than the speed of sound, if such a sudden and erratic shift meets the US's geopolitical agenda.

It appears that this is now the case with Pakistan.

US, Pakistan Underreport Civilian Deaths in Drone War

Of those killed in US drone strikes against North Waziristan, how many are civilians? It is a question without an answer, but a new report by a Pakistani NGO suggests that the answer is “most of them.”

The report revealed that among the 84 people killed in November’s US drone strikes the vast majority were local tribesmen with no apparent militant ties. Even among the apparent militants killed, there were no high profile killings reported.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Any Pakistani national reading this in English should be enraged as to how thoroughly expendable Pakistani citizens are to their own government, in the name of its cooperation with the US in the alleged "war on terror."

I am, in fact, amazed that the corporate US media has not gone back to the old Vietnam-ear "reporting" of "body counts."

After Protests, US Drones Kill 13 Pakistanis

With mass protests against the US killings continuing through the weekend, US drones once again launched multiple attacks on the North Waziristan Agency, killing at least 13 “suspects,” all of whom Pakistani officials identified as local tribesmen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The drone bombings cannot distinguish between those deemed innocent or guilty by the US government.

What this will do, however, is to push those left standing into the waiting embrace of the insurgency.

If complete destabilization of Pakistan is the desired outcome here, one can certainly say, "Mission Accomplished!"

35 die in U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal region

U.S. drone aircraft launched series of strikes in a Pakistani tribal region on Friday and killed 35 people, local TV channels reported.

Three drone strikes into the Khyber tribal region, bordering Afghanistan, is a sign of U.S. plan to expand drone attacks to other areas outside Waziristan region.

Pakistanis protest civilian deaths in U.S. drone attacks

Victims of U.S. drone attacks in Pakistan took to the streets for the first time here Friday, as a new report claims that there are significant numbers of civilian casualties from the strikes and a lawsuit seeks hundreds of millions of dollars in damages from the CIA for those mistakenly injured or killed.

Fifteen people injured in the attacks or who claimed to have had family members killed in the bombardment appeared in public Friday and officially joined the $500 million lawsuit that began last month with just one claimant in the Pakistani courts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope the Pakistani people can express their rage in their Parliament, by forcing a "snap election" (if possible) to get rid of the current, corrupt cabal of rogues in their government; these people have no problem with getting handsomely compensated by the US for allowing innocent people to be killed through US airstrikes.

US Reports Paint ‘Bleak’ Pictures in Afghanistan and Pakistan

Though the documents have not been made public yet, those familiar with the new National Intelligence Estimates on Afghanistan and Pakistan, which were presented to the Senate Intelligence Committee this week, say they paint a bleak picture of the situation in both nations.

The new report on Afghanistan notes that NATO seems to be able to control only a handful of “inkspots” across the nation in which they have an overwhelming number of troops, but that the country is by and large uner Taliban control.

The report on Pakistan claims that the Afghan War can only be won if the Pakistani military is able to completely secure all the tribal areas and eliminate all terrorists in those regions, and accuses Pakistan’s government of being unwilling to do that. It is unclear if the document questions whether or not Pakistan’s government is even theoretically able to dominate those regions, which have long been only nominally under their control.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The only people "winning" these wars are the drug lords and the defense contractors.

NATO and South Asian security: NATO Plants Itself In South Asia For The Long Haul

Overarching these considerations comes the U.S. strategy visualising NATO as the provider of security to the Silk Road that transports the multi-trillion dollar mineral wealth in Central Asia to the world market via the port of Gwadar. The Afghan-Pakistan trade and transit agreement concluded last month was a historic milestone and was possible only because of Washington's sense of urgency. Without doubt, Pakistan is assured of a key role in the U.S. regional strategy. This will keep foreign money flowing into Pakistan's economy and the Pakistani military will willingly accelerate the partnership programmes with NATO, and even upgrade them.

2 US drone strikes kill 14 militants in Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan — A pair of American drone strikes killed 14 suspected militants in northwestern Pakistan on Sunday, local intelligence officials said, in the latest attacks against al-Qaida and Taliban militants seeking sanctuary in the region.

Pakistan says US seeking to expand drone strikes

A senior Pakistani intelligence official said Saturday the U.S. is seeking to expand the areas where American missiles can target Taliban and al-Qaida operatives but that Pakistan has refused the request because of domestic opposition to the strikes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Pakistani leadership had better get used to the concept that once they allowed US to target alleged militants with these drone strikes, they gave up all pretense of being a sovereign nation.

The US is, most likely, going to ignore what the Pakistani government wants in this case, and will simply escalate the drone attacks in the border areas with or without the government's approval.

Zardari says he has proof of US terror against Paksitan

The News International, Pakistan‘s largest English-language newspaper, published a report on October 13 based on excerpts from American journalist Bob Woodward’s recently released volume “Obama’s Wars” which stated that during a trilateral summit between the presidents of the U.S., Afghanistan and Pakistan on May 6 of 2009 Pakistani head of state Asif Ali Zardari accused Washington of being behind Taliban attacks inside his country with the intent to use them so “the US could invade and seize its nuclear weapons.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This appears to have been the game plan all along.

But one has to wonder why Zardari is making this claim so late in the process, and expressing outrage now.

The civilian and military leadership, who have been well-bribed to look the other way while US drones kill their citizens will enjoy a very comfortable life in exile, when this whole episode is over, courtesy of the American taxpayers.

US understates civilian casualties in Pakistan, makes no amends

Currently, the clashes between the Pakistani military forces and the militant groups are continuing at a concerning level in four provinces in the country’s northwestern region, while the US continues to bomb two more provinces in the area with its drones. In addition to civilian deaths and according to the latest available data of the Geneva-based Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC), an estimated 2 million people have been displaced in the country because of the violence.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The "war against terror" in Pakistan has morphed into a war by the US against the Pakistani people, and the Pakistani civilian and military leaders have been well compensated to turn a collective blind eye to the carnage.

What the US wants is control of Pakistan's nuclear weapons, coupled with a "regime change" in the government to make the next Prime Minister completely compliant with the US's demands.

The US military doesn't care how many innocent civilians they slaughter on the way to achieving the outcomes outlined above.

Pakistani Victims of U.S. Drone Strikes Speak Out

Gul Nawaz, from North Waziristan, was watering his fields when he heard the explosions of drone missiles: "I rushed to my house when I heard the blast. When I arrived I saw my house and my brother's house completely destroyed and all at home were dead!" Eleven members of Gul Nawaz's family were killed, including his wife, two sons and two daughters as well as his elder brother, his wife, and his four children.

US Military Officials Eye More Attacks Into Pakistan

According to recent reports US military officials, facing growing administration pressure to show something that seems like progress in the endless Afghan War, is looking to press Pakistan for more attacks inthe tribal area, and some are even advocating crossing the border with US forces and expanding the war formally into Pakistan

Webmaster's Commentary:

A war actually against Pakistan has been where US governmental policy has been going all along.

Obama ramping up CIA infiltration of Pakistan: report

AFP

The United States is trying to expand a secret CIA operation designed to eliminate radical Islamic militants’ havens located in Pakistan near the Afghan border, The Wall Street Journal reported.

US drones are pounding Pakistan's North Waziristan. Here's why.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In a logical US foreign policy, whatever aid the US is giving to Pakistan wouldn't be used to cause its military and civilian leadership to look the other way as we continually slaughter its citizens with these drone attacks; it would actually be used to better the lives of ordinary Pakistanis, with a complete accountability for how the money is spent.

This would mean the Pakistan would investing in infrastructure, hospitals, clean water facilities, education, and encouraging foreign investment which brings jobs, and a better quality of life.

Poverty, illiteracy, lack of infrastructure and massive governmental corruption are the ingredients necessary for the creation of insurgency, which may look attractive to people who have nothing left to lose.

This is precisely what we have in Pakistan at the moment, a country literally on financial life support from the rest of the world. Add to that the recent horrendous flooding, an event of Biblical proportions, and you have a country which is on the brink of chaos.

While the people of Pakistan desperately need outreach in medical aid and equipment, the US is doing its level best to rev up the misery and instability here.

If the US has a military beachhead in Pakistan, it would limit Iran's ability to interdict oil shipping in the Gulf.

Bahreïn:

US Resumes Arms Sales to Bahrain

Less than three months after including Bahrain on a list of human rights offenders requiring the United Nations' attention, the Obama administration seems to have changed its mind. The US now believes Bahrain is "an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East," according to a statement from the Defense Department, which intends to sell $53 million worth of military equipment and support to the Gulf state, including bunker buster missiles and armored vehicles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but I have to wonder here: has the US Defense Department collectively gone barking, frothing mad to have made this decision?!?

This will simply demonstrate, yet again to the people in the Middle East and the world, that the US government is only interested in democracy and human rights when it suits them, and will use any and all means necessary to suppress and crush those values where they do not.

The US government's arming the Bahraini Sunni monarchy against its Shiite majority will result in more unintended consequences in the region, and possibly, a catastrophic civil war, the beginnings of which we are starting to see in Yemen. Bahrain today held special parliamentary elections boycotted by the country’s largest Shiite Muslim bloc a day after stepped-up protests in Shiite villages and riots in Manama’s biggest shopping mall. The vote was called to fill 18 seats in the 40-member parliament vacated by the al-Wefaq group, the biggest Shiite party. Its lawmakers quit in objection to a crackdown on mostly Shiite demonstrators who held rallies in February and March during which at least 35 people died.

Bahrain: Is Washington Preparing For ‘Regime Change’ in PR Disaster Kingdom?

The fact that some 40 people have been killed in Bahrain for peacefully demanding democratic freedoms and basic human rights is an unmitigated damning indictment of the US-backed regime. Thousands have been injured – many horribly mutilated – from regime forces firing at unarmed peaceful demonstrators.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Those in the bowels of power in DC espouse democracy when it suits them, and abhor it when it does not.

'US might redeploy Bahrain fleet'

The US is reportedly considering redeploying its Navy Fifth Fleet outside Bahrain, due to its alarm at the popular revolution against the country's Washington-backed regime.

Bahrain’s Dictatorship and the Pentagon

What distinguishes the Bahrain dictatorship from, say, the Libyan or Syrian dictatorships, is that the U.S. government supports the dictatorship in Bahrain while opposing the Libyan and Syrian dictatorships. Thus, not only does U.S. foreign aid flow into the Bahrain dictatorship, the U.S. military also has a major base there.

The Bahrain dictatorship is accusing those 20 doctors of participating in anti-government protests in Bahrain. Guess what type of court the doctors are being tried in. You got it: a military tribunal, just like those employed by the Pentagon at Guantanamo Bay.

It probably won’t surprise you to know that the doctors are accusing Bahrain’s military of torturing them while in custody and forcing confessions out of them — and that the military is denying it.

Amid savage crackdown on protest, Obama welcomes Bahrain prince

The cynical hypocrisy of Obama’s chatting with a representative of the Bahraini royal family, even as he issues pronouncements in favor of the “Arab Spring” and wages war on the Gaddafi regime in Libya, put the White House in something of a bind. The administration found its usual cowardly and unprincipled solution to the problem. It held a meeting that was officially not a meeting.

Hey, "cynical hypocrisy" has become one of the great trademarks of the Obama administration.

IF the Democratic party had any brains, they would be holding a primary rather than blindly and blithely supporting a candidate who has thrown American working people off a cliff during his watch, and finished the process of eviscerating the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

It is clear to me that the Democrats are counting on two scenarios for 2012: massive vote rigging over and beyond what we have ever seen before, and a truly horrendous world war.

Why the war?!? Because, again, invoking cynical hypocrisy, the Democrats understand that historically, in times of war, the incumbent in this country always regains his position in the next election.

Visible Means of Support: Backing Brutality in Bahrain

Last week, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate met with the crown prince of Bahrain and "reaffirmed" the United States' "strong commitment" to the regime of unelected autocrats. The Peace Laureate -- who in his acceptance of the Prize wrapped himself in the mantle of Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi -- also "expressed strong support" for the regime's "ongoing efforts to initiate national dialogue ... [and] forge a just future for all Bahrainis."

??President Obama had dropped in a meeting the prince was having with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who likewise extolled the autocrats for their "national dialogue" and "important work."...

Washington’s Allies Run Amok: Saudi and Emirati Forces Open Fire on Unarmed Protesters in Bahrain

http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=25758

A shocking new video shows Saudi and Emirati forces firing indiscriminately at a crowd of unarmed youth protesting against the autocratic US-backed Bahraini government [1].

All three Gulf states are key allies of the US, with Washington supplying each with billions of dollars worth of military equipment. The three autocratic regimes have also been crucial supporters of the US and NATO’s nearly five-month military assault on Libya – allegedly conducted to defend the human rights of the Libyan people.

In the latest outrage against human rights in Bahrain, the video shows two jeeps racing towards a crowd of young males, almost running some of them over. Uniformed police then jump out of the vehicles and start firing shotguns and rubber bullets at the fleeing protesters. Many in the crowd were obviously young teenagers, dressed in shorts and barefoot.

Despite claims by the Bahraini regime that it has ended a three-month state of emergency and that it has opened a process of national dialogue and reform, the latest outrage in Duraz clearly shows that repression and excessive use of force is a continuing reality for the mainly Shia-led pro-democracy movement.

Last week, a 47-year-old mother, Zainab Hassan Al Jumaa died from teargas inhalation after police launched a similar attack on the Shia town of Sitra. Several other Shia towns and villages are routinely assailed by armed forces – nearly a month after the so-called end of emergency powers.

The video of the attack in Duraz shows personnel in Bahraini ministry of interior vehicles wearing Bahraini state uniforms. But security sources have confirmed to Global Research that the personnel include troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. It is an open secret that Saudi and Emirati troops disguise themselves as Bahraini police, which in itself is a transgression of international law.

Last month, Bahraini head of state King Hamad Al Khalifa declared an end of a state of emergency that began in mid-March when thousands of Saudi and Emirati troops entered the Persian Gulf kingdom to suppress a peaceful pro-democracy uprising. During the following months nearly 40 civilians have been killed by pro-state forces, hundreds have been injured, and more than 1,000 arrested and held in detention without charges.

Some 400 people have been brought before martial courts and sentenced to years of imprisonment. Currently, 48 doctors, nurses and paramedics are being prosecuted for “inciting hatred against the rulers” and for breaching medical codes after the medics treated hundreds of protesters who had suffered horrendous state-inflicted injuries.

Up to 2,000 workers have been sacked from their jobs, accused of supporting anti-government rallies. This has caused untold economic hardship and amounts to “collective punishment”.

The vast number of victims of state repression are from the majority Shia community. The Bahraini Sunni elite has enlisted the help of the Wahhabi Saudi state in a blatant campaign of retribution against Bahrain’s Shia majority, which has deliberately stoked sectarian divisions on the Gulf island. As well as countless human rights violations, Saudi forces have been involved in bulldozing dozens of Shia mosques and burial sites

Washington, which repeatedly describes the Bahraini regime as “an important ally”, has tacitly backed the Saudi and Emirati military intervention even though this has resulted in atrocities and crimes against humanity.

In the face of countervailing evidence, President Barack Obama has talked up the Bahraini regime’s declared political talks initiative as a positive development.

However, the latest video showing Saudi and Emirati troops firing on pro-democracy protesters in Bahrain provides a snapshot of clarity about where Washington actually stands on the issue of democratic freedom and human rights. Troops from two of the most autocratic and repressive regimes in the world are very much still assisting the anti-democratic Bahraini rulers by firing on young peaceful demonstrators who are calling for nothing other than their basic human rights. And clearly, the US government is on the side of the oppressors.

Now, what’s that about defending democracy and human rights in Libya?

U.K. admits training Saudi forces used to crush Arab uprising

The British Ministry of Defense (MoD) confirmed last week that U.K troops may have trained Saudi Arabia's national guard before they were used to help crush civil rights protests in Bahrain.

Documents obtained by The Observer under Britain's Freedom of Information Act revealed that British forces regularly instructed the Saudi national guard in "weapons, fieldcraft and general military skills training, as well as incident handling, bomb disposal, search, public order and sniper training."

"All BMM personnel, as well as support costs such as accommodation and transport" was paid for by Saudi Arabia, according to the documents. Up to 20 teams a year are sent to the kingdom.

In March, 1,200 Saudi troops entered Bahrain to help quell demonstrations. The Sunni Saudi royal family was reportedly worried that the Shiite majority in Bahrain could gain control there.

UK to be sued over Bahrain crackdown

A group of lawyers are set to take the United Kingdom to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague over its role in the brutal crackdown of Bahrainis.

The lawyers from Lebanon, Spain, France and Italy accuse Britain of selling arms, including sniper rifles, to the Manama regime and training Bahraini police forces, who are accused of using heavy-handed tactics against anti-government protesters in the Persian Gulf sheikdom.

Bahrainis hold massive anti-govt. rally

Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in Bahrain to condemn the killing of another peaceful anti-government protester by the Saudi-backed Bahraini regime forces, Press TV reports.

The protesters voiced their anger at the regime's killing of Seyyed Saleh Al-Hallai, who died on Friday after suffering tear gas inhalation one day earlier during a massive anti-government demonstration.

Bahraini women recount abuse, torture

"I advise you that we will get you to say whatever we want, either by you saying it willingly, or we will beat you like a donkey and torture you until you say it," AFP quoted a female doctor as saying, citing her interrogator.

Another female doctor, who spent over 20 days in detention, said she was severely beaten by her interrogators after she refused to sign a confession paper reading that doctors themselves killed two anti-government protesters while trying to "expand (their) wounds in order to make them look bad," for cameras.

Manama officials claim that the two protesters had arrived at the hospital suffering only minor injuries.

Where is the outrage in Washington about this?!?

This treatment of Bahraini women medical professionals appears to be completely acceptable to the Obama administration.

This deafening, collective silence coming from Washington is engineered to protect their "thugocracy" in Bahrain, and insure the continued presence of the US 5th Fleet in that country.

I would like to remind the US Congress, State Department, and Pentagon of the following: when peaceful revolution is impossible, violent revolution is almost always inevitable.

You just might want to factor that reality into your foreign policy decisions; it might create a refreshing change in the outcomes of that policy.

Bahrain doctors to be tried for helping protesters

Several doctors and nurses who treated injured anti-government protesters during the months of unrest in Bahrain will be tried in a military court on charges of acting against the state, the justice minister said Tuesday.

Khaled bin Ali Al Khalifa said the charges against 23 doctors and 24 nurses include participating in attempts to topple the island's Sunni monarchy and taking part in illegal rallies.

It can get no more absolutely transparently hypocritical than this: the US government closes its eyes and ears to savagely anti-democratic behaviour by countries whose leadership consists of "our thugs", and rails against those on Israel's "to do list" for regime change, like Syria.

And please understand: Assad and his cronies are no saints by any normal definition of the word; but any and all regime change in Syria should come from within.

Of course, however, Syria and Iran have a mutual defense pact. If the US, Israel, and NATO attack Syria, Iran must respond; and that gets the war going in Iran.

Bahrain: A chilling account of the brutal clampdown sweeping Bahrain

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/apr/16/bahrain-eyewitness-riot-police

In Salmaniya medical complex [which has been under military occupation for three weeks], a cousin of mine worked at the appointments centre. After his shift he left the hospital and police stopped him at the exit, checked his ID card and noticed his Shia name. They accused him of racism for not giving appointments to Sunnis and beat him up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When it comes to the values of democracy, human rights, and human justice, the US is only interested in those values when it benefits them.

Otherwise, with countries in which we have "geopolitical interests" (as with Bahrain, which hosts the US's 5th fleet), those values are completely expendable.

You can almost smell the gut-curdling stench of hypocrisy here.
