Arizona state senator Sylvia Allen thinks the earth is 6000 years old

Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen (R-Snowflake), arguing in favor of a bill to allow uranium mining north of the Grand Canyon, casually says that the earth is 6,000 years old, and therefore a little uranium mining isn't going to hurt anything.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We really need mental competency checks for legislators.

War Criminal Dies

Robert Strange McNamara, a brilliant bureaucrat and important member of the US power elite, has died at 93. A key planner of the terror bombing of civilians in WWII and of the terrorist war on Vietnam, he later continued his service to the empire as head of the World Bank. (Pearl Harbor)

Bill Gives Attorney General Power To Designate Gun Owners, Tax Protesters As Terrorists

Amendments to the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act, which has already been passed by the House, would empower the Attorney General Eric Holder to define gun owners, anti-abortion activists and tax protesters as domestic terrorists in light of recent federal reports that classify millions of Americans as “extremists”.

Former impeached Florida judge and now Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings has introduced amendments to H.R. 2647: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010, which would give Holder dictator powers to demonize legitimate protest groups as being affiliated with violent race hate organizations.

Airline considering having passengers stand

Michael O'Leary, the chief executive of Ryanair, plans to make some passengers stand

The low-cost airline would charge passengers less on "bar stools" with seat belts around their waists.

Michael O'Leary, the chief executive, has already held talks with US plane manufacturer Boeing about designing an aircraft with standing room.

He is now seeking approval from the Irish Aviation Authority before ordering a new fleet of carriers, according to The Sun.

A Ryanair spokesman told the newspaper: "If they approve it, we'll be doing it."

Mr O'Leary is reported to have got the idea from the Chinese airline Spring, which has put forward similar plans. It estimates space could be made for up to 50 per cent more passengers and costs could be cut by 20 per cent.

It is not the first time Ryanair has come up with a controversial proposal for cutting costs. Earlier this year Mr O'Leary suggested passengers could be charged £1 to use the on-board lavatories.

In an interview on BBC television he said that the low-cost airline was looking at the possibility of installing a coin slot on the lavatory door so that "people might actually have to spend a pound to spend a penny."

Mr O'Leary also considered introducing a "fat tax" for overweight passengers.

The Honduras Coup: Is Obama Innocent?

Is President Obama innocent of the events occurring in Honduras, specifically the coup launched by the Honduran military resulting in the abduction and forced deportation of democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya? Obama has denounced the coup and demanded that the rules of democracy be honored. Still, several troubling questions remain.

First, almost all the senior Honduran military officers active in the coup are graduates of the Pentagon’s School of the Americas (known to many of us as “School of the Assassins”). The Honduran military is trained, advised, equipped, indoctrinated, and financed by the United States national security state. The generals would never have dared to move without tacit consent from the White House or the Pentagon and CIA.

High Stakes in Honduras

When rallying in the streets of Tegucigalpa for the ousted President Manuel Zelaya, Alejandra Fernandez, a 23-year-old university student told a journalist why she supported Zelaya: "He raised the minimum wage, gave out free school lunches, provided milk for the babies and pensions for the elderly, distributed energy-saving light bulbs, decreased the price of public transportation, made more scholarships available for students." Others gathered around to mention the roads and schools in rural areas the president had created.

"That's why the elite classes can't stand him and why we want him back," Alejandra explained. "This is really a class struggle."

Lawmaker won’t deny secret CIA program was ‘Cheney assassination ring’

“It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on,” Hersh stated. “Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us.”

Investigators Easily Smuggled Bomb Material Into Government Buildings

A new report by the Government Accountability Office inadvertently discredits a claim often made by 9/11 truth debunkers – that bombs could not have been smuggled into the twin towers or Building 7 without being noticed by security.

“In the past year, investigators successfully smuggled bomb-making materials into ten high-security federal buildings, constructed bombs and walked around the buildings undetected,” reports the Washington Post.

The GAO said that Federal Protective Service security at the offices of Homeland Security, the Justice Department and the State Department amongst others was easily penetrated by investigators carrying liquid explosives and low-yield detonators.

U.S. government has total email surveillance of entire population

WASHINGTON — The National Security Agency is facing renewed scrutiny over the extent of its domestic surveillance program, with critics in Congress saying its recent intercepts of the private telephone calls and e-mail messages of Americans are broader than previously acknowledged, current and former officials said.

Obama Warns of Return of Swine Flu in the Fall

The Obama administration warned Americans on Thursday to be ready for an aggressive return of the swine flu virus in the fall, announcing plans to begin vaccinations in October and offering states and hospitals money to help them prepare.

Vaccinations will begin in October only if tests scheduled to begin in August prove that the vaccine is safe and effective. Even then, officials expect only tens of millions of doses to be ready, so they will have to decide who is vaccinated first. The most likely candidates, Ms. Sebelius said, are school children, health care workers, pregnant women and people with asthma or other conditions that make the flu riskier.

Florida prepares for huge swine flu shot program

Florida’s surgeon general says the state is preparing for massive swine flu immunizations, starting with schoolchildren, as the Obama administration urges states to prepare for the likelihood that the virus might worsen in the fall.

Medvedev Unveils “World Currency” Coin At G8

“Here it is,” Medvedev told reporters today in L’Aquila, Italy, after a summit of the Group of Eight nations. “You can see it and touch it,” reports Bloomberg. “We are discussing both the use of other national currencies, including the ruble, as a reserve currency, as well as supranational currencies,” the Russian leader said at a news conference.

Press images released to the Yahoo photo wire did not show any close up shots of the coin and little was known about it, except that it had been minted in Belgium and bears the words “unity in diversity”.

Here is a close up pic of the coin:

US Drone Strikes Kill at Least 45 in South Waziristan

Yesterday, the drones had attacked another compound, killing at least 16 and wounding around 30 others. On Friday, another strike killed 17. So far there are no reports that any high profile militants have been killed in any of the strikes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't see a difference morally between a drone missile strike and a terrorist bombing, do you?

Iran:

IAF to train overseas for Iran strike op

Biden was asked on ABC's This Week whether the US would stand in the way militarily if the Israelis decided they needed to take out Iran's nuclear program.

The US "cannot dictate to another sovereign nation what they can and cannot do," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wish you had said that back in 2003 when the US Government was doing exactly that to Iraq.

Meanwhile, the attack by Israel against Iran is clearly moving forward, even though the new leader of the IAEA has reaffirmed his predecessor's conclusions that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons. They are building a power station.

Iran says it will retaliate if Israel attacks its nuclear facilities

As Israel gears up for war, US divide appears

As Israel continues its efforts to portray Iran as a regime hell-bent on a nuclear war, top officials in the White House and the US military express contradictory stances on a potential Israeli attack on Iran.

The top US military commander, Admiral Mike Mullen, warned on Sunday that any military strike against Iran would have "unintended consequences".

Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Fox News on Sunday that any attack against Iran would be "very destabilizing."

"I've been one who has been concerned about a strike on Iran for some time, because it could be very destabilizing, and it is the unintended consequences of that which aren't predictable," he was quoted by AFP as saying.

Webmaster's Commentary:

On the contrary; Israel's PLANNED goal for an attack on Iran is to trick the US and Russia into a mutually destructive world war that will leave Israel and its nuclear arsenal in control of the Mideast oil fields, which means economically in control of most of the world.

The whole world will be Palestine after that!

Biden: U.S. won't stop Israeli strike on Iran

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said on Sunday that the Obama administration would not stand in Israel's way should the latter chooses to take military action to eliminate Iran's nuclear threat.

Israel has the right to determine its own course of action with regard to the Iranian nuclear threat regardless of what the Obama administration chooses to do, Biden told ABC reporter George Stephanopoulos.

When asked whether the Obama administration would restrain Israeli military action against Iran, Biden responded: "Israel can determine for itself - it's a sovereign nation - what's in their interest and what they decide to do relative to Iran and anyone else."

Iran attacks Biden's Israel remarks

Iran will hold the US responsible for any Israeli attack against the country, Ali Larijani, the speaker of Iran's parliament, has said.

His remarks came after Joe Biden, the US vice-president, said that Washington would not dictate the way Israel deals with Tehran's nuclear ambitions.

"We will consider the Americans responsible in any adventure launched by the Zionist entity," Larijani said in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Monday during an official visit.

Riyadh, Kuwait denies green light for Israeli planes to use airspace

Dubai: Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have made swift and clear denials over press reports that Israeli warplanes would be allowed to fly in their airspace during an attack on Iran.

An informed Saudi official branded the reports "stupid", and a "pathetic way (from Israel) to gain some recognition from some Arab countries or Muslim countries" through giving the impression that it has communications with the Kingdom.

However, these Arab and Muslim countries "didn't buy it", the official said.

Obama: No green light for Israel to attack Iran

The United States is "absolutely not" giving Israel a green light to attack Iran, U.S. President Barack Obama told CNN Tuesday.

"We have said directly to the Israelis that it is important to try and resolve this in an international setting in a way that does not create major conflict in the Middle East," Obama said, referring to Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Biden stepped WAY out of line with his comment over the weekend.

Israeli officials tell Washington Times Israel has not asked US for permission to strike in Iran, fearing Obama would refuse

Webmaster's Commentary:

... but a President Biden would agree! Was Joe hinting at a "promotion" with his comment about not standing in the way of an Israeli attack on Iran?

‘US finances anti-Iran terrorist gang’

Jundullah leader Abdulmalik Rigi received $100,000 from US operatives to fuel sectarianism in Iran in just one of their meetings, his brother has said.

"My brother Abdulmalik met several times with US forces in Pakistan," Abdulhamid Rigi told a group of tribal leaders and citizens in the town of Iranshahr in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan.

"I myself took part in one of those meetings, where we discussed recruitment, training, infiltrating Iran and methods of inflaming Sunni-Shia sectarianism for three hours. In that meeting, the Americans gave my brother $100,000," he added.

US frees five Iranian diplomats in Iraq

The US military in Iraq on Thursday freed five Iranian diplomats held since January 2007 in a major source of friction between archfoes Tehran and Washington, Iraqi and Iranian officials said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

After the huge stink on ABCNNBBCBS over those arrested embassy staffers in Tehran, I'll bet it comes as a shock to know that the US has held Iranian DIPLOMATS hostage for 2 years now.

And ABCNNBBCBS hardly said a word, did they?

UK: We should not prove anti-Iran claims

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says the burden must be put on Iran, rather than the world, to prove its nuclear program is directed at civilian purposes.

Britain's Brown whose country possesses nuclear weapons told journalists present at the G8 summit in Italy that a tougher nuclear regime was needed, under which the countries that do not possess nuclear weapons, such as Iran, ought to shoulder the responsibility to prove the peaceful nature of their nuclear work.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hey, does the phrase "Dodgy Dossier" ring a @#%ing bell, Gord-O????

It is Great Britain (and the United States) whose credibility is in the "Al Qaeda" here! Iran hasn't been caught in anywhere near the whoppers told by the UA and UK and Israel in the run up to the invasion of Iraq.

And speaking of Iraq, remember how Israel insisted that Iraq's power station was a weapons lab when they bombed the crap out of it, and after the 2003 invasion the IAEA examined the remains and concluded there had never been a weapons facility and Osirik was only a power station? So isn't it Israel that needs to be checked for lies?

South African study: Israel practicing apartheid and colonialism

The Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa (HSRC) has released a report confirming that Israel is practicing both colonialism and apartheid in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT).

The HSRC commissioned an international team of scholars and practitioners of international public law from South Africa, the United Kingdom, Israel and the West Bank to conduct this study. The resulting 300-page report, titled "Occupation, Colonialism, Apartheid?: A re-assessment of Israel's practices in the occupied Palestinian territories under international law," represents 15 months of research and constitutes an exhaustive review of Israel's practices in the OPT according to definitions of colonialism and apartheid provided by international law. The project was suggested originally by the January 2007 report by eminent South African jurist John Dugard, in his capacity as Special Rapporteur to the United Nations Human Rights Council, when he indicated that Israeli practices had assumed characteristics of colonialism and apartheid.

The Report finds that Israeli practices in the OPT exhibit the same three "pillars" of apartheid:

The first pillar "derives from Israeli laws and policies that establish Jewish identity for purposes of law and afford a preferential legal status and material benefits to Jews over non-Jews."

The second pillar is reflected in "Israel's 'grand' policy to fragment the OPT [and] ensure that Palestinians remain confined to the reserves designated for them while Israeli Jews are prohibited from entering those reserves but enjoy freedom of movement throughout the rest of the Palestinian territory. This policy is evidenced by Israel's extensive appropriation of Palestinian land, which continues to shrink the territorial space available to Palestinians; the hermetic closure and isolation of the Gaza Strip from the rest of the OPT; the deliberate severing of East Jerusalem from the rest of the West Bank; and the appropriation and construction policies serving to carve up the West Bank into an intricate and well-serviced network of connected settlements for Jewish-Israelis and an archipelago of besieged and non-contiguous enclaves for Palestinians."

The third pillar is "Israel's invocation of 'security' to validate sweeping restrictions on Palestinian freedom of opinion, expression, assembly, association and movement [to] mask a true underlying intent to suppress dissent to its system of domination and thereby maintain control over Palestinians as a group."

Webmaster's Commentary:

And nobody knows Apartheid better than South Africa!

The families driven apart by Israel's red tape

New regulations are making it increasingly difficult for Palestinians from Gaza to see their relatives in the West Bank

Carter says Gaza Palestinians treated like animals

UN investigator 'shocked' by scale of destruction in Gaza

The head of a United Nations team investigating possible war crimes by Israel and Hamas during the Gaza war said Thursday he had been shocked by the scale of the destruction in the Palestinian areas.

South African Judge Richard Goldstone spoke at the end of a four-day fact-finding trip to Gaza, during which his 15-member team interviewed dozens of witnesses and visited sites damaged in Israel's three-week offensive against Hamas that ended Jan. 18.

His team hoped to visit Israel and the West Bank as well, but Israel has refused to cooperate, citing alleged anti-Israel bias by the U.N. Human Rights Council, the probe's sponsor.

The waste of Israel's Gaza war

The homeless remain stranded and, it seems, forgotten. The international community pledged $4bn to rebuild Gaza after the war ? a publicity stunt says one lady I spoke to who lives with her children in a tent by the side of the rubble once their home.

After the war, Israel left 75 tonnes of depleted uranium in the soil, while half of Gaza's hospitals were demolished ? and that's just the infrastructure.

At least 1,440 Palestinians were killed by Israeli soldiers and artillery whose aim, the establishment still maintains, was to neutralise Hamas fighters. Of those killed, 431 were children and 114 women, according to Palestinian sources.

Israeli army targeted civilians, rules UN report

In a number of incidents “too numerous to list” the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) “recklessly and intentionally” put Palestinian children, civilians and aid workers in danger during their 22-day onslaught on Gaza, that is the scathing verdict of a 43-paged UN report.

The UN Secretary General also accused Israel of lying about attacks on UN schools and other facilities during the Gaza military campaign - including one reported to have killed more than 40 people, and demanded compensation. Ban Ki-moon also said a UN investigation found conclusively that Israeli weaponry, some containing white phosphorus, was “the indisputed cause” of attacks on several schools, a health clinic and the world body’s Gaza headquarters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, this is standard operating procedure on the part of the IDF.

That horrendous tee-shirt we saw being worn by members of the IDF says it all: "one shot, two kills", referring to killing pregnant Palestinian women.

The question is, what is the world prepared to do to stop this kind of Israeli behavior?

If this kind of wanton killing, wounding and maiming were being perpetrated by any other government in the world, there would be an international outcry, sanctions, etc..

But because it's Israel against the Palestinians, all we hear is a deafening outpouring..... of silence.

And that is inexcusable.

Israel urges Spain to halt 'cynical' Gaza war crimes probe

Israel on Monday urged Spain to stop a Spanish judicial investigation into a 2002 bombing on the Gaza Strip, saying it "contravened the clear position of the Spanish government."

Spanish National Court judge Fernando Andreu announced Monday that he will pursue his investigation into a 2002 Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip, despite contrary advice by prosecutors at the court.

In response to the decision, Israel's Justice Ministry said it was "convinced the Spanish government and judicial system will do their utmost" against a "cynical" attempt by the Palestinian plaintiffs to "exploit the Spanish judicial system in order to advance a political agenda against Israel."

Living with 75 tons of depleted uranium in Gaza

Gaza is littered with the depleted uranium Israel uses to strengthen its warheads. Now there will be many children born with deformities and even more precious land beyond human habitation or farming.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Depleted Uranium is used in warheads intended to attack heavily armored targets, such as tanks and bunkers, neither of which the Palestinians have.

So, Israel's only reason to shower Gaza with depleted uranium is to trigger further health problems for the Palestinians.

UN pushing Israel toward legal proceedings

In pursuit of the case of Israeli war crimes, the United Nations moves to report to the Security Council that UN facilities in Gaza had been targeted willfully.

After the United Nations Works and Relief Agency (UNRWA) compound became the target of GPS-guided Israeli mortars on January 15, the UN set up a commission to bring Israeli human rights violations in Gaza out into the open.

The commission -- led by the former British secretary-general of human rights group Amnesty International, Ian Martin -- assembled a report on Israeli actions in Gaza for submission to the Security Council.

"Israel deliberately fired at UN institutions even though it knew it was forbidden", read the report.

Israel blasts UN report on Cast Lead

Israel on Tuesday rejected as "patently biased" a UN inspection committee report which alleged that the IDF had intentionally attacked UN installations during Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip ...

Webmaster's Commentary:

UN demands Israel compensation for strikes in Gaza

The U.N. chief on Tuesday accused Israel of lying about attacks on United Nations schools and other facilities during the Gaza military campaign — including one reported to have killed more than 40 people — and formally demanded compensation.

UN demands access to secret Israeli 'torture' jail

The United Nations anti-torture committee has demanded access to an Israeli secret prison where torture is allegedly being practiced.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"We do not torture. And we will waterboard anyone who says that we do!"

UN blames Israel for Gaza attacks

More than 1,400 Palestinians were killed in
Israel's month-long assault on Gaza

A United Nations inquiry into the war in Gaza has found that Israel was blame for at least seven direct attacks on UN operations - including schools and medical centres.

The UN report, commissioned by Ban Ki-Moon, the UN secretary-general, said the Israeli military intentionally fired at UN facilities and civilians hiding in them during the war and used disproportionate force.

Missiles, bombs and small arms were all used by Israel against the UN - leading to dozens of deaths.

The UN's own fuel and aid depot in Gaza was hit with Israeli artillery shells causing widespread damage.

The attack continued for two hours after the UN asked the Israeli military for it to stop.

UN accuses Israel of "negligence or recklessness' in Gaza

Even though UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon is obviously trying to soften the blow by only releasing his own summary (PDF) rather than the full report, a UN investigation into Israeli actions during its last heavy-handed invasion of Gaza is damning in its criticism.

Israeli Army conducts limited offensive in Gaza

Palestinian sources in Gaza reported on Tuesday morning that Israeli Navy ships and infantry brigades conducted a limited offensive in the Gaza Strip. During the attack several armored vehicles and military bulldozers uprooted farmland and destroyed hothouses.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel makes war on the Palestinians' ability to feed themselves.

Egyptian authorities forced to burn expired Gaza aid

Egyptian authorities on Friday said they planned to destroy a large amount of accumulated humanitarian aid bound for Palestinians in Gaza.

The aid expired at the Al-Ouja border crossing between Israel and Egypt while authorities awaited Israel's permission to transfer it through, they said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Basically, Israel held up permission for the food to enter Gaza until the food spoiled.

Israeli troops on Monday morning set fire to Palestinian-owned fields of wheat and barley in Juhor Ad-Dik, in the southeastern Gaza Strip.

Israeli Army Shoot 12 Year Old Child

Today the Israeli Army Child Killing Unit shot another child. But no need to worry, decent people of the world, after all they are “allowed” to shoot 12 year old children. Why? Because, according to Israel, you are no longer a child when you turn 12 years old.

Israeli troops kill U.N. truck driver at Gaza crossing

Israeli soldiers opened fire Thursday on a truck attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to the beleaguered Gaza Strip, killing one United Nations-contracted driver and seriously wounding another, U.N. officials said.

Settlers torch tent with Palestinians inside near Hebron

Three Palestinians from a small hamlet near Yatta, south of Hebron, on Sunday narrowly escaped death after Israeli settlers set fire to a tent while they were inside.

Local residents told Ma’an that Israeli settlers from the nearby Susia settlement, which sits on Palestinian land, set fire to a large tent used as a meeting hall for the small village.

Israel issues demolition orders in isolated Qalqiliya-area village

Israeli authorities notified farmers in the village of Azzun Atma on Sunday that their agricultural infrastructure will be destroyed, according to Palestinian source.

'Israel will face terror, missiles in future war'

Vilnai made the comments during a session of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, in which he said the Home Front Command would simulate defending against such an assault as part of a large-scale drill to be held next week.

"This isn't an imaginary situation. This isn't detached from reality and if there is a war, it's very likely that this is what will happen," said the deputy minister.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai: what appears to be completely detached from reality is your lack of recognition that it is the issue of how the Palestinians are being treated, in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank, which is the crux of any possible rage against Israel that its neighbors might harbor.

How to cure the problem? Well, sir, let's chew on these for starters.

1. Declare your borders, period, end of discussion. (Invading Lebanon to steal the Litani River didn't do very well for Israel's reputation in the international community.)

2. Immediately sit down with all levels of Palestinian leadership to declare an iron-clad, absolute cease-fire, while a Palestinian state is established (and not, thank you very much, within the boundaries of Jordan.)
3. Invite countries from around the world to invest in a viable re-building/replanting program for Palestine (the IDF has done such a grand job of burning and otherwise destroying Palestinian crops, as you are well aware)
4. Prepare for a new era of peace, with unprecedented economic and social cooperation at all levels from all of your neighbors.

Or.... you can continue doing precisely what you have been doing, and be constantly on a war footing.

Israel drops warning pamphlets over Gaza

Israeli aircraft have scattered pamphlets over the Gaza Strip warning residents to stay away from the border.

The Arabic pamphlets warn Gazans to stay out of areas 300 meters to 500 meters (yards) from the border fence, saying they risk being shot.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Gazan Palestinians may well be shot anyway, if this pamphlet-drop is potentially the prelude to another Israeli military assault on Gaza.

DON’T MATTER WHAT OBAMA SAYS…. “GOD GAVE THIS LAND TO ME”… SO DID CECIL B. DeMILLE

Around 280,000 Jewish settlers live in 121 settlements — almost 200,000 more live in East Jerusalem, according to the Israeli-based Peace Now group, which wants settlements in the West Bank evacuated so that a two-state solution can be pursued.

But this is land the Palestinians want as a future state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Critics – both within and beyond Israel – say the settlements are nothing more than a land grab that only complicates the task of achieving a lasting peace; but many settlers say the West Bank is Jewish land and if Palestinians want to live there they must abide by Israeli law.

Could you tell me why the Palestinians have to recognize the zionist state's right to exist on Arab Palestinian Land ?

- Is it because God gave his chosen people my land ,even though most of the citizen of the zionist state are not even from the region ?

- Is it because the Arab Palestinians have to pay for Hitler and the European's ruthlessness ?

- Is it because the zionist state never respected International Law ?

- Or is it because we are Arabs ,our blood, suffering ,dignity etc....do not count ?

No other people in the history of life on this Earth have been asked to do this ,and that's why I am asking .......Why ?

Auschwitz survivor: "I can identify with Palestinian youth"

I can write up an endless list of similarities between Nazi Germany and Israel. The capturing of land and property, denying people access to educational opportunities and restricting access to earn a living to destroy their hope, all with the aim to chase people away from their land. And what I personally find more appalling then dirtying one's hands by killing people, is creating circumstances where people start to kill each other. Then the distinction between victims and perpetrators becomes faint. By sowing discord in a situation where there is no unity, by enlarging the gap between people — like Israel is doing in Gaza.

Liban:

Israel's deployments in Lebanon raise tension

The Lebanese Army has condemned recent Israeli deployments inside Lebanon's borders, saying that it will follow up the move through international bodies.

The army said in a statement on Friday that the recent erection of an observation post and a military facility by Israel on the outskirts of the Kfar Shouba Hills of Lebanon is against the international resolutions and also against the United Nations' frontier line between Lebanon and Israel.

Responding to the Israeli violation of Lebanese territory Lebanon called the action provocative and deployed its own army units in the area on Friday.

Israeli Army amasses troops, military hardware along Lebanese border

The Israeli Army stepped up its presence along the border with Lebanon deploying armored tanks and setting up fortifications as it intensified airspace violations in the area, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported Thursday. In "unusual military activity," the Israeli Army deployed Merkava tanks and soldier carriers, among other armored vehicles, along the barb-wired fence separating Shebaa Farms from liberated Lebanese territories, the NNA said.

Israel is world's fourth most dangerous country, study says

A study of the world's most peaceful countries released Wednesday ranks Israel as fourth to last among the 144 countries ranked.

According to the Global Peace Index, an annual ranking of the world's nations on the basis of how peaceful they are, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq are the only countries more dangerous than Israel.

Poll: Israeli gov't most corrupt in world

A poll conducted by an anti-Corruption organization has revealed that the majority of Israeli's believe their government is not seriously fighting against Corruption.

The annual Global Corruption Barometer report released by Transparency International shows that 86 percent of Israelis --the highest level in the world--say the government's efforts to fight Corruption are ineffective.

Only 13 percent of Israelis believed that the government is taking the necessary measures to fight Corruption, Haaretz reported.

Israel's press status downgraded to 'partly free'

Israel's press status has been downgraded from "free" to "partly free" in a report released on Friday by non-profit organization Freedom House, ahead of World Press Freedom Day today.

The paper, titled "Freedom of the Press 2009," which reports a global decline in press freedom during 2008 - a seven-year downward trend - points to the conflict in Gaza as accounting for Israel's relegation.

The report maintains that Operation Cast Lead created "increased travel restrictions on both Israeli and foreign reporters; official attempts to influence media coverage within Israel; and heightened self-censorship and biased reporting, particularly amid the outbreak of war in late December."

Top Israeli Official Mocks Two-State Plan as ‘Childish and Stupid’

Just hours after reports began to emerge of the Obama-Abdullah Plan, which sought a two-state solution involving a contiguous Palestinian state which would be banned from having a military or entering any defensive pacts, one aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lashed out at the very idea of a two-state solution, calling it “childish and stupid.”

Israel: Netanyahu Rejects Compromise With Palestinians

Israel’s premier, Benyamin Netanyahu, has made clear that his government is not interested in reaching any agreement with the Palestinians.

Netanyahu’s speech was billed as his response to US President Barack Obama’s call in Cairo on June 4 for the creation of a Palestinian state and the end of new settlements on the West Bank. It was delivered before an invited audience at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar Ilan University, near Tel Aviv, an academic stronghold of the religious right.

Netanyahu stated unequivocally that the establishment of a Palestinian “state” was dependent upon the Palestinians’ acquiescence to a series of Israeli demands, which together strip the putative entity of any of the normal attributes of a state.

These demands were dressed up as Israeli “principles.” The first principle and “fundamental condition” was that the Palestinians recognise not just the state of Israel, but its character as “the state of the Jewish people.” This meant that Palestinian refugees who were either forced out of their homes in 1948, or who fled in 1967, would not be allowed to return to Israel.

The second principle was demilitarisation, by which he meant that the Palestinians would not be allowed to have weapons or an army, sign military agreements, make alliances with other countries or control their own airspace. They would also have to ensure that no arms were allowed to enter the country. This is in essence a demand that the Palestinian Authority led by Mahmoud Abbas and the PLO wage all-out civil war to eradicate Hamas and other militant groups.

Netanyahu called on the imperialist powers in general and the US in particular to provide international guarantees for demilitarisation.

Thirdly, Israel needed defensible borders, with “Jerusalem remaining the united capital of Israel,” ruling out the use of East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state as well as international supervision of the Temple Mount or Haram al-Sharaf, which is considered holy by three major religions.

Israel has long said that “defensible borders” means positioning its troops along the western side of the Jordan River. This would mean either stationing troops within the Palestinian state, or further encroaching upon Palestinian land in the West Bank.

Netanyahu again rejected American demands for a freeze on Israeli settlements. Existing settlements would be allowed to grow, he said, although he threw out the crumb that there would be no new settlements. He defended the settlers, saying that they were not “enemies of peace.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a classic Israeli strategy. First, Israel offers to give the otherwise what they want, then attaches a huge set of pre-conditions which are INTENDED to make agreement impossible. When the deal falls through, Israel then accuses the other side of causing the deal to collapse.

Quel Etat palestinien ?

Housing Minister: Spread of Arab population must be stopped

By Guy Lieberman, Haaretz Correspondent
Housing Minister Ariel Atias on Thursday warned against the spread of Arab population into various parts of Israel, saying that preventing this phenomenon was no less than a national responsibility.

"I see [it] as a national duty to prevent the spread of a population that, to say the least, does not love the state of Israel," Atias told a conference of the Israel Bar Association, which focused on a reforming Israel's Land Administration.

Privately run checkpoint stops Palestinians with 'too much food'

A West Bank checkpoint managed by a private security company is not allowing Palestinians to pass through with large water bottles and some food items, Haaretz has learned.

Cynthia McKinney Refuses Israel's Offer of Release from Custody

Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, who was taken into custody by the Israeli Navy on Tuesday with 20 others while trying to sail through a navy blockade to deliver humanitarian supplies to Gaza, has refused Israel's initial offer to release her from custody. According to her supporters in Atlanta, McKinney refused the offer because she would have been required to sign an admission of guilt that she violated Israel's blockade.

"At issue is the fact that Ms. McKinney was in international waters" when the Israeli Navy stopped the group's boat, according to a statement from the Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery and the Atlanta-based Coalition for the People's Agenda.

Webmaster's Commentary:

AIPAC went out of their way to bring an end to Cynthia McKinney's career in Congress.

Israel has a vengeful wildcat of their own making locked up in a cage.

And Obama, for all his tough talk about Somalia and Iran, is proving to the world he is a pussy when it comes to Israel.

I wonder how all those blacks who supported Obama because he was "one of them" feel now as Obama allows a black woman and former member of congress to sit in jail in Israel?

I guess Obama knows who his master is.

ISRAEL ATTACKS JUSTICE BOAT; KIDNAPS HUMAN RIGHTS WORKERS; CONFISCATES MEDICINE, TOYS AND OLIVE TREES

[23 miles off the coast of Gaza, 15:30pm] - Today Israeli Occupation Forces attacked and boarded the Free Gaza Movement boat, the SPIRIT OF HUMANITY, abducting 21 human rights workers from 11 countries, including Noble laureate Mairead Maguire and former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (see below for a complete list of passengers). The passengers and crew are being forcibly dragged toward Israel.

BBC - Israelis intercept Gaza aid ship

Israeli forces have boarded a ship trying to carry aid and pro-Palestinian activists to the Gaza Strip in defiance of Israel's blockade of the territory.

The 20 passengers include former US congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and Nobel Prize winner Mairead Maguire.

Ms McKinney described it as "an outrageous violation of international law", as the boat was on a humanitarian mission and was not in Israeli waters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Finally, some notice from the corporate media!

However, I take exception to this quote from the article...

"Israel keeps a tight hold on Gaza, which has been ruled by militant group Hamas since June 2007, having seized control of from its rival, the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority."

Hamas did not "seize control" of anything. Hamas won the election.

THE PIRATES OF ZION: OBAMA MISSES THE BOAT!

Israel’s boarding and capture in international waters of The Spirit of Humanity, an unarmed boat carrying relief supplies to the suffering people of Gaza, shows that state-sponsored piracy is a real peril today. It is just one more breach of international law added to the global “rap sheet” of a rogue state that, as Netanyahu remarked a few weeks ago, is not like other countries. But Israel’s capture of this boat was also Netanyahu’s test of Obama’s resolve – a test Obama failed, to his shame and discredit.

Webmaster's Commentary:

America needs leaders who put America first, second, and third.

Obama has failed this requirement.

Israel captures peace activists en route to Gaza

A group of 21 peace activists sailing to Palestine were intercepted and arrested by Israeli authorities on Tuesday as they attempted to bring food and medical supplies to the war-torn city of Gaza. Israel said it plans to deport most of the people involved, including former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and Mairead Maguire, a Nobel laureate.

US remains silent over McKinney arrest by Israel

Nearly a day after the detention of former US lawmaker Cynthia McKinney by Israeli forces, Washington has yet to make a reaction.

Webmaster's Commentary:

On the contrary, Washington's reaction has been to do nothing at all, proving once again that President Obama is more worried about Israel than he is about members of Congress.

Cynthia McKinney Remains Imprisoned in Israel After Gaza-Bound Boat Is Seized

Former U.S. lawmaker and Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney and several other human rights activists remained in an Israeli prison Thursday after refusing to sign a deportation form that they claim is self-incriminating.

In a press release from the Green Party, McKinney said the form states that the Spirit of Humanity, a Greek-flagged relief boat carrying 21 activists, medical supplies, cement, olive trees and children's toys en route to Gaza, was violating the Israeli blockade and trespassing the country's territorial waters.

US STATE DEPARTMENT COMMENT ON CAPTURE OF CYNTHIA MCKINNEY!

Webmaster's Commentary:

We are seeing the same tactic used in the failed Iran coup; the same claims repeated using different IDs over and over again.

Israel to jump-start its settlement expansion

Israel is to allocate $ 250 million to further expand its settlements in the occupied West Bank territories over the next two years despite international objections.

Does Israel Really Have a Right to Exist?

Following Netanyahu’s much anticipated policy speech, politicians and journalists, like mindless automatons, have set about repeating Israel’s tired mantra that Palestinians should recognize Israel’s right to exist. Never mind the fact that the PLO and Palestine Authority have obliged this ludicrous call, not once, but four times. And never mind that Israel has always denied Palestine’s right to exist, not only as a nation, but as individuals seeking a dignified life in our own homeland.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel has created a situation making recognition very dangerous. Israel refuses to define her borders, knowing that once she does she will have to live within them or be seen as an aggressor. Under the present situation, Israel justifies their stealing of lands under the gross self-deception that Gos intended them to have it all anyway.

But the absence of borders makes recognition of Israel tricky. Palestinians cannot agree to Israel's existence because they do not know what they are agreeing to. Israel can always respond to a recognition of their right to exist by saying, "Well, Israel includes that land you are living on, and you just agreed we have an existential right to it, so GET OFF MY LAND!"

MKs Respond: 'Zionist Vision is Stronger than Any President'

“If Obama does not understand the difference between them, perhaps he will understand it better when he visits the Buchenwald concentration camp in the comings days. And if he doesn’t understand it even there, then Islam will once again teach it to him, just as it taught his predecessor on 9/11.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

So now, are Israeli MKs threatening President Obama and the US with another staged terror event as "payback" for what President Obama has said in Cairo?!?!?

President Obama, please tear down this wall of unwavering financial and military support of Israel.

Please stop signing the checks: it is obvious that the Israeli government neither needs or appreciates the incredible generosity of the American taxpayers, expended in money and blood, towards its survival over the last 60 years.

Majority in US want Israel to be penalised

Despite claiming continued support for Israel, a majority of US residents want a change in policy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A decisive plurality said US aid to Israel is “too much”, and a majority want to see Israel penalised for building new settlements on Palestinian land.

Chabad rabbi: ‘Destroy their holy sites. Kill men, women and children (and cattle)’

The current issue of Moment magazine dedicates its "Ask the Rabbis" section to the question "How Should Jews Treat Their Arab Neighbors?"

Rabbis from various denominations offered responses, but it's the final one -- from a Chabad rabbi, Manis Friedman of the St. Paul-based Bais Chana Institute of Jewish Studies -- that is likely to spark the most reaction:

I don’t believe in western morality, i.e. don’t kill civilians or children, don’t destroy holy sites, don’t fight during holiday seasons, don’t bomb cemeteries, don’t shoot until they shoot first because it is immoral.

The only way to fight a moral war is the Jewish way: Destroy their holy sites. Kill men, women and children (and cattle).

Talmudic Zionists soak female reporter in spit

I found myself herded against a brick wall as they kept on spitting - on my face, my hair, my clothes, my arms.

It was like rain, coming at me from all directions - hitting my recorder, my bag, my shoes, even my glasses.

Big gobs of spit landed on me like heavy raindrops. I could even smell it as it fell on my face.
Somewhere behind me - I didn't see him - a man on a stairway either kicked me in the head or knocked something heavy against me.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How very civilized of them!

The "spitting assault" described also happened to Ernst Zundel and his team of defense attorney and supporters during the first Great Holocaust Trial in Toronto in 1984.

His then defense attorney, a young woman, was absolutely covered with rivers of spit by angry Jewish activists. Ernst told me many times that the saliva covered her face and hair and ran down her neck into her cleavage. She was so revolted and terrified by the assault that she dropped out of assisting in Ernst's defense.

Likud: Obama has crossed the line

US President Barack Obama's administration's criticism of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's policies has crossed the line into interfering in Israeli politics, top Likud ministers and MKs said Tuesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear President Obama

Kindly stop interfering with Israel.

And while you are at it, stop sending those checks full of our tax dollars to Israel. Israel's attitude proves they do not need it and are not the least bit grateful for it, and in any event all those weapons the US paid for that are being dropped on Palestine are in all probability killing the modern-day relatives of Jesus, and I seriously doubt any of us will get into heaven with THAT on our souls! I understand (from the Old Testament) that "the big boss" knows how to carry a grudge!

Feel free to send your own variation of the above to The President

FRANCE: 'Defying Rules on Arms Sales to Israel'

French arms sales to Israel are "in total contradiction" of European Union rules on the defence industry, the author of a new study has said.

Between 2003 and 2007 France issued licences worth more than 446 million euros (623 million dollars) for arms exports to Israel. This made France by far the largest supplier of weapons to Israel in the EU.

Israel to ignite all-out regional war?

The Israeli military holds its most extensive nationwide drill, signaling its intentions for a possible attack on Iran which they admit can ignite an all-out war in the region.

The nationwide exercise "Turning Point 3" will begin on May 31 and will last five days, Ynetnews reported.

During the drill, Israeli forces and civilians will exercise a war against Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria and Iran and will also practice counterinsurgency tactics against Israeli Arabs.

Israel hints of broader war in region

Israel's Defense Minister says the flames of the next Israeli war would engulf a 'broader' region while admitting that Israelis must be ready to pay a higher price in terms of losses.

"The IDF's future operations will be broader and more demanding in terms of their scope and pace, with more risks than Operation Cast Lead ( in the Gaza Strip). We in the political echelon will act so that the ordeal won't come to pass but, still, you must win every trial," The Jerusalem Post quoted Ehud Barak as saying on Tuesday.

UNIFIL refutes Israeli reports it found 20 rockets in Lebanon

The spokeswoman of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) dismissed on Friday a report carried by an Israeli newspaper that UN peacekeepers found around 20 Katyusha rockets that were ready for launch in south Lebanon. "The news report is inaccurate," Yasmina Bouziane said on Friday, adding that if the news had been correct, the UN will be "immediately notified through the appropriate channels."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel, after having recently massed military assets on the Lebanese border is looking for some reason - any reason - to invade Lebanon again, and this time, to go all the way to the Litani River, because it desperately needs the water resources the Litani can provide.

Mapping an Occupation

Webmaster's Commentary:

Scroll the map up to the area between Ramallah (North of Jerusalem) and Qalqilya (further north). Click on the box "Completed barrier." Now click the box just underneath "Under Construction".

Netanyahu: Jerusalem holy sites will remain Israeli forever

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Thursday that all of Jerusalem would always remain under Israeli sovereignty, in comments likely to spark consternation among Palestinians who hope to make the city the capital of a future state.

Israel Breaks Ceasefire Again, and Again, and Again........

Sure Israel wants peace, the kind of peace they would have if they were allowed to slaughter everyone in Palestine and Iran.

'88% of prisoners in Palestinian jails being held without trial'

One of the astounding conclusions of the legal experts from Europe was that 88 percent of all those in jail were being held without trial, a hearing or any sentencing. This one fact brought to the fore the reality of the problems in the field of law that the Palestinian Authority is dealing with. At a time when the Palestinian police force is beginning to show impressive signs of improvement, acting with determination to restore order throughout the West Bank, in great part thanks to a reshuffling of the top posts, those arrested are simply thrown in prison without legal proceedings.

Report Ties Dubious Iran Nuclear Docs to Israel

A report on Iran’s nuclear program issued by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee last month generated news stories publicizing an incendiary charge that U.S. intelligence is underestimating Iran’s progress in designing a "nuclear warhead" before the halt in nuclear weapons-related research in 2003.

That false and misleading charge from an intelligence official of a foreign country, who was not identified but was clearly Israeli, reinforces two of Israel’s key propaganda themes on Iran – that the 2007 U.S. National Intelligence Estimate on Iran is wrong, and that Tehran is poised to build nuclear weapons as soon as possible.

But it also provides new evidence that Israeli intelligence was the source of the collection of intelligence documents which have been used to accuse Iran of hiding nuclear weapons research.
