Police in thought pursuit

The fastest way to bring down a dictator is to force him to act like one where everyone can see it.

Denuded of euphemisms and code words, the Act aims to identify and stigmatize persons and groups who hold thoughts the government decrees correlate with homegrown terrorism, for example, opposition to the Patriot Act or the suspension of the Great Writ of habeas corpus.

The Act will inexorably culminate in a government listing of homegrown terrorists or terrorist organizations without due process; a complementary listing of books, videos, or ideas that ostensibly further "violent radicalization;" and a blacklisting of persons who have intersected with either list.

Political discourse will be chilled and needed challenges to conventional wisdom will flag. There are no better examples of sinister congressional folly.

This administration has done more to eviscerate the Constitution and Bill of Rights than any other administration in this country's history.

Police in thought pursuit

The Pope had his Index of Forbidden Books. Japan had its Thought Police against subversive or dangerous ideologies. And the United States Congress and President Bush have learned nothing from those examples.

Congress is perched to enact the "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 20007 (Act)," probably the greatest assault on free speech and association in the United States since the 1938 creation of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). Sponsored by Rep. Jane Harman, California Democrat, the bill passed the House of Representatives on Oct. 23 by a 404-6 vote under a rule suspension that curtailed debate. To borrow from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, the First Amendment should not distract Congress from doing important business. The Senate companion bill (S. 1959), sponsored by Susan Collins, Maine Republican, has encountered little opposition. Especially in an election year, senators crave every opportunity to appear tough on terrorism. Few if any care about or understand either freedom of expression or the Thought Police dangers of S. 1959. Former President John Quincy Adams presciently lamented: "Democracy has no forefathers, it looks to no posterity, it is swallowed up in the present and thinks of nothing but itself."

Though the authors of H.R. 1955 would likely deny that the bill could be used to crack down on free speech and legitimate political opposition, the talking heads on the main stream networks have made it very clear that they would like this kind of legislation to do just that.
Can H.R. 1955 be used to silence the voices of dissent? Let's have a look.

Part 2
Silencing dissenters is nothing new. During the "Red Scare" our authoritarian rulers used the label of "communist sympathizer" to coerce and intimidate the nation to into uniform silence. Like good children, we are to be seen and not heard. The House Un-American Activities Committee and McCarthyism have been pulled back out of the closet to fight a new enemy, "Homegrown Extremists". Are H.R. 1955 and S. 1959 the greatest dangers to the freedom of speech, press, and assembly since the HUAC and Sen. Joseph McCarthy? Let's have a look...

The 911 Truth Movement is being
targeted for criminalization.

Earlier this month, special Brasscheck TV
correspondent Goodman Green posted a
short video about HR 1955.

In just three days over 100,000 people
downloaded and viewed it. Now the bill is in the Senate under a new
name S 1959.
This bill makes it possible for the government
to criminalize free speech, by declaring it a
form of "terrorism."
Who does this bill target?

Congressional hearings show they're painting
a bulls eye on the 9/11 Truth Movement by likening
it to violent terrorist groups. We can stop this and this video shows how.

Please visit this video, view it often, comment
on it, rate it and favorite it - and ask others
to do so too.
This bill and the motivations behind it can be defeated
if enough people speak up.

Thanks.

Demonizing 9/11 Truth

http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/252.html

Why are HR 1955 and other repressive
laws becoming a necessity?

Because US citizens are getting too close to the truth. What can a corrupt government do when it
realizes that the people are catching on?

Demonize the truth tellers.

Right now, as you read this, the US government
is engaged in a sophisticated media campaign
to equate 9/11 research with terrorism.

Sound outlandish? It's not. It started with a Congressional hearing called:

"Using the web as a weapon: The Internet as a tool
for violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism."

At this hearing, 9/11 Truth groups were lumped together with violent terrorists.

You can watch them do it with your own eyes. This is an extremely important video to spread.

Home Sec in anti-terror plan to control entire web

UK Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has decided to mount a push against cyber terror, in which the internet itself will somehow be modified to prevent people using it for terrorist purposes.

Home Sec in anti-terror plan to control entire web

By Lewis Page

Published Thursday 17th January 2008

UK Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has decided to mount a push against cyber terror, in which the internet itself will somehow be modified to prevent people using it for terrorist purposes.

Today, Ms Smith addressed an international conference on radicalisation and political violence. Much of the speech was about engagement with the Muslim community, preventing the use of schools and prisons for jihadi propaganda etc. There was also some suggestion that "dirty bombs" are jolly dangerous, and that this shows how serious the domestic terror threat is*.

However, the Home Secretary also reiterated the Brown government's promise of technical measures against web terror:

The internet is a key tool for the propagandists for violent extremism... Let me be clear. The internet is not a no-go area for Government.

US mock disaster drill: Trains, planes and bloggers threaten America

Not too subtle, are they; "Bloggers threaten America."

Trains, Bloggers Are Threats in Drill

Thursday, January 31, 2008

WASHINGTON - It's the government's idea of a really bad day: Washington's Metro trains shut down. Seaport computers in New York go dark. Bloggers reveal locations of railcars with hazardous materials. Airport control towers are disrupted in Philadelphia and Chicago. Overseas, a mysterious liquid is found on London's subway.

And that's just for starters.

Those incidents were among dozens of detailed, mock disasters confronting officials rapid-fire in the U.S. government's biggest-ever "Cyber Storm" war game, according to hundreds of pages of heavily censored files obtained by The Associated Press. The Homeland Security Department ran the exercise to test the nation's hacker defenses, with help from the State Department, Pentagon, Justice Department, CIA, National Security Agency and others.

Don't Even Think About It

Only liberal Democrat Dennis Kucinich and libertarian Republican Ron Paul have warned that in the name of stopping domestic terrorist plots before they happen, Congress is in the midst of passing legislation aimed not at actual hate crimes or even terrorist conspiracies, but at talking, Web surfing, or even thinking about jihadism or other "extremist belief systems." Last October, a piece of legislation called the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 sailed through the House with near-universal bipartisan support; it is likely to reach the floor of the Senate early this year and appears certain to be signed into law.

Meanwhile, a report released by the New York City Police Department's intelligence division has been warmly received in Washington and widely distributed to law enforcement officials and seems sure to influence national policy. "Radicalization in the West and the Homegrown Threat" details how not only committed terrorists but potential jihadists think, what they talk about, and where they meet. The report's apparent goal is to increase surveillance on constitutionally protected activities.

Terrorism and Speech

Unfortunately, none of these laws will actually stop determined terrorists, and put an enormous chill on true civilized discussion and dialogue.

What turns someone into a terrorist?

Absolute lack of civil redress, bone-grating economic hardship, prejudice, and oppression have a lot to do with this kind of transformation.

But there's another factor here; people who resort to terror also have a clear understanding that terrorism, as a violent method of changing a situation to their favor can actually work. Israel was created in part by acts of terror carried out by Irgun to drive out the British, as one example.

The question is, whose terrorism do we applaud, and whose do we condemn?

That question is usually answered along the lines of national self-interest.

New Operation to Put Heavily Armed Officers in Subways

Each team in the operation will comprise a bomb-sniffing dog and six officers: a dog handler and a sergeant and four officers from the Emergency Service Unit who will be outfitted in heavy, bullet-resistant vests and Kevlar helmets and will carry automatic weapons, either an M-4 rifle or an MP5 submachine gun.

... so we can shoot random innocent travelers just like they do in Great Britain!

NYC subways adding dogs, armed officers

Teams of police officers armed with submachine guns and bomb-sniffing dogs will soon be patrolling the busiest parts of New York City subways as part of a major increase in regional security funding.

This will not keep residents of these states more safe: these measures are only another layer of intimidation, courtesy of the police state we have become, on the citizens of these states.

Evénément étranges se déroulant au Moyen-Orient:

Progress towards resolving Iran inquiry--ElBaradei

The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog said on Sunday he was making progress in finishing an inquiry into Iran's nuclear past ahead of his next report awaited by those powers mulling new sanctions.

"We are going to have my next report to the (IAEA) Board (of Governors) sometime around the end of this month," he told reporters in Cairo after talks with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa.

There are many factors, including this report (due to be released the end of this month), which makes the possibility of a US/Israeli attack against Iran a little stronger.

An IAEA report stating emphatically that Iran has no nuclear weapons program would make any assertions to the contrary an outright lie (as happened with Iraq's alleged WMDs).

You have the Iranian bourse opening before the 11th of this month, which will clobber the US dollar, big-time.

You have the USS San Jacinto in a port call at Haifa for 3 days.

You now have 4 (5?) fiber optic cables cut, strangling communications from the Middle East and the Near East.

The US government is financially desperate enough to try another war to get it out of the pit of recession, and Israel is screaming for the US to "ger 'r done" in terms of wanting an attack on Iran before the end of Bush's term. This is because they don't know just how carnage prone the next president or administration will be in terms of wanting to "neutralize" Israel's alleged existential threats in the region - which in Israel's case, is just about any and all of its neighbors in the middle east.

Put all of these factors together, and you have a witch's brew of timing, motive, and opportunity for an attack against Iran.

Israelis told to prepare 'rocket rooms' for war

I am relinking this today to go with the story about an American anti-missile ship arriving at Haifa possibly to be deployed in defense of Israel in the event of war with Iran.

So, it looks like the war is on, probably timed to prevent the Iranian Oil Bourse from opening and destroying the dollar.

UAE likely to revalue dollar-pegged currency

Oil-rich Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have set 2010 as the target date for adopting a monetary union and single currency.

Wasn't this one of the countries that got hit with a fiberoptic cable cut, seriously hampering their internet service?

US anti-missile ship to dock in Haifa

An American missile ship set to dock at Haifa Port on Monday is equipped with an anti-missile defense system that could be deployed in the region in the event of an Iranian missile attack against Israel.

The ship will remain in Haifa for three days.

The timing of this "visit" by the San Jacinto is very interesting.

Note that the Iranian bourse is set to open no later than the 11th of this month, very probably clobbering the US dollar as the instrument for purchasing oil.

Is it possible that this is a prelude to a false flag attack against Israel, which would get a war against Iran truly off and running?

Cable damage hits one million Internet users in UAE

A total of five cables being operated by two submarine cable operators have been damaged with a fault in each. These are SeaMeWe-4 (South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe-4) near Penang, Malaysia, the FLAG Europe-Asia near Alexandria, FLAG near the Dubai coast, FALCON near Bandar Abbas in Iran and SeaMeWe-4, also near Alexandria.

Iran Oil Bourse to deal blow to dollar

The long-awaited Iranian Oil Bourse, a place for trading oil, petrochemicals and gas in various non-dollar currencies, will soon open.

This is one major reason Bush is trying to get sanctions on Iran, to prevent the dollar's collapse as an oil currency. But he is not getting those sanctions, because oil consuming nations are tired of having to buy dollars to buy oil, with the attendant handling and exchange fees.

So, what does Bush do now? The dollar cannot survive any more downward pressure. Inflation is already at 34%. The government debt is piling up. The Bourse could be the straw that breaks the dollar's back.

So, what does Bush do now?

Iran oil bourse scheduled

Iran was scheduled to inaugurate its Oil Bourse this coming week.

That probably isn't going to happen because all internet access in Iran was cut over the weekend (the undersea cables were chopped). This was mentioned on Wikipedia for a day... but now the article links and coverage have disappeared.

Even if cutting the cables halted the Bourse, that's only going to hold for a week or ten days until repair ships can get to the area. Plus Iran has communications satellite links onto which Internet traffic is shifting.

If someone wants the Bourse shut down, it will have to be bombed.

Repairs to start on undersea cable Tuesday

Flag Telecom will start repairs next week on a damaged submarine telecommunications cable linking Egypt and Italy. A repair ship is expected to reach the site of the damage, 8.3 kilometers from Alexandria, Egypt, on Tuesday. The repair will take a week to complete, Flag Telecom said Friday.

So, if there is some ultimate plan behind the cable cuttings, it has to happen by February 12th.

the last gasp of Empire

While the American economy is free falling into bankruptcy,it is becoming apparent that the American military is becoming more and more desperate to attack the countries that have decoupled their economies from the US dollar.

One has to wonder what the Vegas odds are for some kind of false-flag attack (to be blamed on Iran, of course) is being considered by those in Washington and Tel Aviv.

US plans to settle Palestinians in Lebanon

These political circles are reportedly also seeking to force the Lebanese government to provide for the settlement of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon in return for writing off 30 percent of its foreign debts.

Much of that debt incurred when Israel invaded Lebanon and destroyed much of their infrastructure.

Congress, using disinfo from MEMRI, set to cut Egypt's aid

Why would Israeli Lobby-controlled Congress cut aid to Egypt? The likely reason is explained in the following,"Egypt rejected an American-Israeli proposal to re-settle 800,000 Palestinians in Sinai." This also explains why Egypt's internet cable was cut.

There's Something Wicked in the Wind.

I am not in any way suggesting that something is going to happen at the Super Bowl. It’s been brought up so I’m including it. I’m not suggesting that something’s going to happen today or tomorrow. Something is going to happen though. You have only to look at what has happened and what the voice of legion keeps hammering into the people’s minds.

I know a lot of people talking about a false-flag bomb at the Super Bowl, but there is one other false-flag attack which could happen at the Super Bowl and not be known about for days, and that is a biological attack.

If one of the banner planes or blimps over the game were to shower the stadium with Anthrax (which has been "pre-sold" to Americans as a terrorist weapon, even though it is actually not very efficient on that role), then days later anthrax cases would be breaking out all over the nation, in every neighborhood, increasing the sense of immediate danger and terror.

As this author says, we really do not know what is going to happen, only that something is about to happen, and that the government has shown itself capable of anything.

The only thing that will get someone to call off a false-flag attack is if they can be convinced the official story will not be believed by the public.

British Jewish group sparks outrage with Gaza blockade criticism

There are many completely moral people, both inside and outside Israel, who view the blockade of Gaza as an absolutely immoral and wrong-headed action.

Their willingness to go public about their beliefs, and risk extreme shunning from within their own communities, is, very courageous, and they should be encouraged to continue to stand their ground.

It keeps the international community's collective gaze focused upon the plight of these people, whose daily suffering is almost unimaginable to those who live comfortably in the West.

Orthodox Jews to Join Other Arab Organizations in Protest Against the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) Annual Dinner, and Against the Recent Atrocities in GAZA

Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, a spokesman for Neturei Karta International, Jews United Against Zionism, stated at a recent meeting: "Philanthropists, government representatives and well meaning people, should be apprised of the reality, that supporting Zionism and the State of 'Israel' does not help Jews or Judaism, but on the contrary only helps to perpetuate the tragic impasse and constant bloodshed in the Middle East, both of Arab and Jew.

"Not supporting the State of 'Israel' does not make one, in any way, less of a friend of the Jewish people and most certainly does not label one an anti-semite."

One has to appreciate this Rabbi's moral courage and his candor.
